The Fourth Adventure

January 1st, Hobbet Adventure Year 2 (HAY 2)

New Year's Day is a festive holiday in the village of Hornpipe. The House of Pancakes is closed for business, so Frederick can enjoy some much-deserved rest and relaxation. Fresh snow has fallen overnight, creating a winter wonderland. It's a sunny day out, and not too cold.

Frederick calls out cheerfully to our heroes from a storage shed behind the restaurant. He is standing there all excited, his cheeks pink and rosy, wearing thick woolen mittens. Whilst clearing out some junk from the shed, he has discovered an old-fashioned toboggan!

"Who wants to come sledding on the Hill with me?"

Willie's current MYTHOS score is 1, and Dougal and Dame Simonetta are at MYTHOS 2.

Would any of you like to reset that to 0 for the new Adventure?

Kiplyn would eye the toe-bogg-an with some suspicion but in the end agree to see what it does.

Dame Simonetta's eyes widen in horror at Frederick's suggestion! It certainly would not be dignified, and the Dame will have no part in it.

Dame Simonette will not reset her MYTHOS

Frederick asks Dame Simonetta, "Would you like to tag along with us and do something else fun, like build a snowman? Or you can stay inside where it's warm, and keep an eye on the Pancake House for me. We don't usually get customers on New Year's Day, but you never know when an unexpected visitor might show up."

As a DM, I'm fine with either decision, and can make it fun for you either way.

Basically the toboggan ride is something fun to do, before we return to the dungeon, while the new player(s) are rolling up their character(s). coffee will be joining us, and maybe one or two more new fresh Hobbet faces.

"If I don't come, who will keep you all out of trouble?" Dame Simonetta replies rhetorically.

Willie brightens at the sight of the toboggan, and the snow, and his friends, new and old! He seems to temporarily break out of the meditative mood he's been in lately.

"Don't leave without me!" he shouts, pulling on his mittens.

Willie's on board for tobogganing and adventure! His MYTHOS score will remain at 1.

Dougal frowns. "What's it for? Hauling wood in the snow? We gonna get paid?"

"Dougal! You've never to-bog-on'd before? You're in for a treat! Behold the dreaded Tob-Og-On: Suicide Sled!"

Willie gives Dougal a tour of the sled's workings (it doesn't take long) while the rest of the party gets ready.

I'm getting a Calvin and Hobbes vibe from this scene.

In that case, this could all end in merry disaster!
