Wasn't he the guy who couldn't get rid of the crossbow that kept shooting friends in the back ;)

Re: Out Of Character

Okay people.

Here is how I see things panning out from here:

1. Dorgan and Morgan are presently in Hinterlands "real time" with a plan to fetch mirrors, return to the Blasted Abbey, rejoin their friends on the Other Side.

2. Wen and Highbough are presently on the Other Side in "dilated time" with a plan to imminently return to the Hinterlands.

3. It's plausible that these four meet on the "real time" side of the Ring, whereupon Wen and Highbough might relate the sad tale that their friends have been eaten by giant sand worms, or buried alive in the desert, or are otherwise MIA. All perfectly plausible from their perspectives.

4. These four then have the option to either a) return to the Other Side to confirm the fate of their friends, or b) remain on the Hinterlands side of the Ring and possibly be a part of whatever affairs will unfold next...

5. Meanwhile, we have Gustave, Dieter, Olaf, Ulric, Desmond/Mondes, Josiane, Torben, Armando, Helmut, and Ashtad all languishing on the Other Side.

I want to switch back to some home turf Hinterlands action for a while, so let's see whether Mgtremaine, Mushgnome, Sully, and FatalT want their existing PCs to head back to the Other Side, or over to Hinterlands.

Then (within maybe a week or so) I think we'll start dicing up some new PCs for anyone who wants one :)

Re: Out Of Character

Certainly a hard place for our Heroes! It's hard to bet against Ulric and Dieter if anyone can survive such challenges it is those two. I wonder if a stopping point on our side would be to re-join Dorgan and then hold the Abbey awaiting the return of the others. Since we know, or will figure out, time is dilated we can guard this side of the portal and resupply the abbey and hope of the best. (In game terms the Abbey becomes friendly territory if needed). Several of us will probably level again. I for one should finally get lvl 2 spells.!!!

Re: Out Of Character

If Highbough and Wen find strong evidence that the others are, in fact, alive, then he would strongly consider regrouping with them and continuing the rescue mission.

From a meta-game perspective, I think the most important thing is to get Tonneau back in the game and having fun again. This is why Highbough enthusiastically joined the rescue mission, even though it is not particularly "in character" for him to do so. Probably Gustave is already dead and we are on a wild goose chase, but I think we owe it to the player to solve the mystery and get him back to the (virtual) gaming table. It's been months, and we miss you, Tonneau! ;)

Hear, hear!

That's another good reason for everyone to roll up some Level 1s! I want to see if Tonneau can top The Gustave's level of dapper!

Re: Out Of Character

That's why Highbough wants to return to the crash site and check the ground for dropped items and other clues. If the worm-hole in the sand is still open, then conceivably we could follow your trail of breadcrumbs and catch up to you. If not then, alas, I think our odds of finding you underground are slim to none and we will have to try to return to the Abbey somehow... Highbough is fresh out of mirrors and silver blades to activate the Ring. ;)

Re: Out Of Character

Highbough isn't scared of the worms and hopes to tame and ride them! He can stick the Ire Spear in the worm's brain and use it as a joystick. I think I read it in a JRR Tolkien book.

Psh. Next thing you know he'll be surfing down the sloping sands on a shield...

[sniff] Well gee thanks. Its a high standard thats set by all to try and match, so I'm glad if The Gustave has added some colour. I have certainly enjoyed playing him, and while he has been 'indisposed' have still enjoyed reading others posts (Highboughs megalomanic tirades to himself have given me more than one good giggle)...
