Whatever entrance we used to enter the chapel... I guess it is not a "door" exactly.

He wants to make sure we are not being followed.

Okay; Highbough sees Armando trotting along to catch up, but nobody behind him...

Dieter walks along the edge of the hole, testing the floor. Once he's satisfied it will hold a man's weight, and the rest of the party have filed into the chapel, he'll post archers along the opposite side of the hole and then lead the party down the narrow staircase.

For this he'll want another light bearer, since he'll have his sword and shield out.

Dorgan is willing to throw his shield on his back and carry a torch while behind Dieter.

He doesn't have any torches though.

Olaf holds the rope making sure Dieter doesn't fall through the floor on his tour around the hole.

If Dieter takes off the rope before going down the stairs, Olaf will recoil it and follow along with silvered dagger and shield somewhere near the back of the party.

If Dieter doesn't remove the rope, he'll continue to play it out as Dieter descends.
