Re: 07 - Exploring Tor-Xonor

"You guys look beat. How about Squishy and I take first watch? If Hagwen had a magic dagger then let me hold it while I stand guard. I will hand it off to whoever takes the next watch." Urist like all Dwarfs takes pride in his night-watchman abilities.

Rhegaer the Red

Rhegaer offers to take the second watch.

OOC: Once we figure out a watch, we should update the Standards thread so we don't have to worry about figuring that out anymore...

Re: 07 - Exploring Tor-Xonor

To make easy lets just say

Urist -> Rhegaer -> Coln

You also have 2 dogs which is helpful.

All the mundane tasks of camp setting our done, the spell casters retreat to a state mediation and reflection after some food. The perimeters are walked and reworked. The night darkens.... Even at this distance the presence of the ruins can be felt, a cold void in the night that call out to you. There are noises some real some imagined. A slow creeping fear sets in.....

Encounter Roll.... (5-6 on d6 in the area of Tor-Xonor)
mgt's roll comes to 1 [1 on 1d6]

Despite the obvious dangers the party manages to spend the night in peace, hidden away in their camp.

POP POP POP levels are gained.

Phadian

Phadian seems much more chipper after a nights rest. "Alrik, let us investigate that figurine now and see if we can figure out what it does."

Re: 07 - Exploring Tor-Xonor

Urist is energetic after a good night's sleep and spends the dawn hour walking the camp perimeter with his dog, scanning the horizon in all directions for signs of trouble. He is sore and stiff from his battle with the ogre, and figures walking around will help him stay loose. "So... what does one do with a dead Elf?" he queries the others upon returning to camp for breakfast.

Phadian

Phadian's face saddens when reminded of Hagwen. "A burial seems to be the right thing to do, I could say a few words."

Re: 07 - Exploring Tor-Xonor

The morning is spent in camp. No one knows much about Elven funerals so unless someone says otherwise I'm going to assume you dig a hole. The body is prepared and buried with some of her possessions. You may look at the Character sheet for anything you wish to keep for the group other then the obvious Magical Dagger. Alrik does find a spellbook written in Elven. Phadian gives the dead a ceremony fitting of a warrior in the service of Torgrin.

After the dead Elf is buried Alrik and Phadian puzzle over the figurine. After some time, it is determined that it is NOT magical.

Coln

"A strange thing... maybe someone at the castle with more smarts about the region's history may know something 'bout it?"
"Role, not roll. People who can't accept that in D&D prove that, irl, they can't accept actually THINKING their way to a reward - they want everything to be fast and perfect. That's why real men play OD&D :p" -Me

Urist casts his appraiser's eye over the strange figurine. Can he glean any clues as to its origin, symbolism, material, or value?

Re: 07 - Exploring Tor-Xonor

Urist inspects the figurine...

mgt's roll comes to 4 [4 on 1d6]

Urist notices something odd, there are no tool marks, the stone is primarily Sunstone which small pieces of other stone somehow molded directly in for the colors. Put try as he might Urist can find no tool marks at all, which he finds odd. The quality is high but he's seen better. Still something strange about this. It would probably fetch 200gp maybe more as curiosity.
