waysoftheearth wrote:| Gallaine's quarter master will supply any of you with any of the following:

Basic clothing (including boots, Master Dorgan),
Leather armour (several of you have lost your armour, or desire to trade-in),
Helmets, Shields,
Shortbows, quivers of arrows, spears,
Waybread (half weight rations),
Waterskins.

(All equipment is green and white, with the distinct "Look of the Wold" about it).

Gallaine's cartographer will show you a working map of the Hinterlands.

Gallaine's beastmaster will arrange a one-way ride on the wing to your next destination (within a day's flying of the Wold).

Gallaine herself will introduce you to the woodland spirits, if you so wish it. |
Desmond will take the quartermaster up on his offer of a shortbow and quiver of arrows (quantity?), a waterskin, and then... however much in Waybread they are going to allow everyone or however much everyone else is going to take or... 2-3 weeks worth?

OOC: Not really sure how much a week of Waybread is, volume-wise, and how it would work, logistically speaking, to have so much. Whatever the DM's ruling is on this will suffice. I think the party should take two weeks worth/person at least, if at all possible. Don't want to push it, though, with the weight/volume.

He will trade in his steel helms and the modified chainmail, as some sort of payment, if the quartermaster will take it, as it probably isn't worth having someone carry it around until there is some sort of epic battle to fight on a battlefield. He'd probably use different tactics aside from blindly charging into the fight head-on, anyway.

He will hold on to his sling, as previously mentioned, and would be more apt to reach for it before the bow in most circumstances, but if there is going to be a group of archers in the party, he wants to be a part of it...

"I think we should see what we can find at the goblin stronghold(s) and then look into aiding the Sisters of Mercy (and healing Olaf), unless we are able to learn anything dire of the Sisters and their situation, in which case aiding them (and healing Olaf) should be our first priority."

EDIT: Unless taking the bow would hamper his thieving skills, in which case he will pass on it and stick to his sling.

"What we could really use is information," Dieter says.

"Are the Sisters still in Ket? If so, what condition are they in? If not, where are they?

"If there is any elf magic that could aide us in learning these things, scrying or what have you, it would make our decisions easier. And simply learning what is going on in neighboring lands should risk none of your lives."

Wen would respond to this in Old Elvish. "I will go and speak to the woodlands spirits. It is best that we do everything we can. Unless you fear I may be killed by them."

Highbough leans upon Josiane for support. "Thank you, Saint. Always gentle have you been with this unlovable old Elf."

To Gallaine, he responds, "Do you see the rays of light shining from this human's aura? You will not regret your investment in these heroes, My Lady. Your generosity will echo as a good deed down through the generations. As for Taurnorn, I fear not the woodland spirits, and long have I desired to learn their mystic secrets. Old and learned am I by Elf standards, yet I am merely a water-strider skimming the surface of the pond in which these fey spirits bathe as their natural element."

[OOC: He accepts the generous offer of a helm, a change of clothes, and as much food as he can realistically carry without movement penalty.]

Dorgan doesn't understand Old Elvish but as soon as he learns of Wen's plan to meet with the woodland spirits, he will volunteer to accompany the mage.

"We got a couple days ta waste whiles Ulric figgers out that crystal ball. Might as well see how dangerous these spirits is."

Dorgan will take a complete change of clothes, a new pair of boots, a helmet, a shield (Desmond's shield is his backup), and whatever amount of waybread the party decides is sufficient.

Torben

While the party mulls over their options, Torben will look to add another score of arrows to his quiver, a cloak to help protect him from the elements, and waybread in a quantity comparable to that obtained by the others.

"Why does he keep calling me that?" Josiane wonders to herself.

Her objectives are:

1) To make Highbough sit down, have something to drink, possibly take a little nap.

2) To accept with gratitude the kindness of the elves. She would welcome a new shield, a helm, a suit of their artfully-crafted leather armour, a clean suit of clothes (though she will be careful to wash and mend her old garments as well. When it comes to her own needs she's a thrifty young miss - make do and mend) and enough supplies for two weeks (so weight-wise she's carrying the equivalent of one week's normal rations). She will refill her water flask and enquire about the possibility of obtaining holy water.

3) To ask Gallaine for more information of the history of the 'black blood' in the Gottfried clan. She will describe in detail the creature she saw, the four statues in the tomb and the coats of arms she noted.

4) To accompany the others who are going to see the Forest Spirits; "They may have answers to questions of my own..."

5) To ask Ulric for a quiet word away from the others.

"Given that we found the scrying ball in a House of Worship, if my skills can be of any use to you in unlocking its secrets I will not hesitate to offer them, although I am under no illusions that my knowledge even begins to compare with your own," she says, with a bobbed curtsey and a shy smile.

"And... if I might ask your advice on another matter, and the best way to - broach it with the rest of the company? I have spent much time contemplating the Theraic Staff and I believe its powers will respond to my command."

She smiles a beatific smile.

"I believe Mondes' curse can be lifted! Desmond can be dispelled!" :D

Re: (055) Wildwood/The Ivory Wold

As Gallaine offers her help, Ulric bows in thanks.

"Very well," Ulric says. "I will seek to learn the mysteries of the crystal ball as well as a few others that have been lying in wait in my satchel. It may be that I can contact the Sisters in Ket or perhaps others of their order in Maine to alert them to the crisis in Ket. If some of you wish to seek out these woodland spirits then I only advise you to be wary. There are worse things to lose than your life so such creatures. Once we are armed with more knowledge we can decide on a path."

When Josiane pull him aside, Ulric smiles faintly.

"Your wisdom may well be of use in unraveling the secrets of the orb. Do not doubt your abilities Josiane."

OOC: Ways, will having more than one individual working the the crystal ball increase the odds of success? Also, Ulric will carry as much way bread as he can without being encumbered. How long will the stuff last?
