Delve the Fifteenth

[Makofan]

Maloof and Franklin head down to the enchanters' area. The whole area has sprawled out magic apparati of dubious authenticity, and they interrupt two men quarreling

"What do you want?" snaps the taller, bald gentleman

[kipper]

"We happened to be in the area, and thought to enquire if we may be of service to you?" Maloof says.

[Makofan]

"Do you know how to control a balrog?"

[kipper]

Maloof pauses for a moment as if in thought. "Unfortunately, that's beyond our capabilities. Perhaps Ozminster or Thoth could aid you?"

[mushgnome]

Franklin listens carefully how the Enchanter reacts to mention of Ozminster and Thoth.

When there is a convenient lull in the conversation he chimes in, "Also I was wondering if you have any magic items for sale? Any potions that would make me a better fighter, that sort of thing?"

[Makofan]

Maloof pauses for a moment as if in thought. "Unfortunately, that's beyond our capabilities. Perhaps Ozminster or Thoth could aid you?"

"Those charlatans? One-trick ponies, both of them. Not real mages at all. Once we control the balrog, we'll take care of them also"

[Makofan]

Franklin listens carefully how the Enchanter reacts to mention of Ozminster and Thoth.

When there is a convenient lull in the conversation he chimes in, "Also I was wondering if you have any magic items for sale? Any potions that would make me a better fighter, that sort of thing?"

"Pah, we do serious research here, not the peddling of items. Go bother someone else"

[kipper]

"Perhaps we could be of service to you? Small jobs for which you do not have the time or inclination, given the time and effort required for your research?" Maloof asks.

[Makofan]

"Nothing at the moment, thank you"

[mushgnome]

"One last thing then we'll be out of your hair: Is the balrog dormant or active? Is it confined to its lair, or out on the loose, wandering the halls?" (This is Franklin's concern.)
