Dougal feels the skeleton's left hand latch on to his right ankle, which the skeleton uses as leverage to make a chop-attack with the magic sword in its right hand. (1d20=12-1=11, miss) But Dougal stomps down with his other foot and pins the blade to the floor. It's a temporary stalemate situation, with the legless skeleton torso trying to wrestle the sword out from under Dougal's foot.
There must be some lingering connection between the bones of the top and bottom half of the body. At the same moment the torso comes back to life, the legs are reanimated as well. The skeleton hobbet legs start to twitch and flail, sending a wild kick right at...
