Re: Welcome

Okay, I'm here, late to the party.

So...who wants me to play in their campaign now?

Welcome Drandorin! I have room in my Hobbet game for more players. Do you want to join up? (along with rredmond)

Sorry to answer this so late, and forgive me if you get a double message, it seems that the internet here is not working as it should.
If you still have a room I would be glad to play with you! :)
I am so sorry I missed this, back in '19. :(
If you are still lurking out there, I apologize, and yes, you can play with us.

Hi Scott! Welcome. :)

Would you like me to roll you a Hobbet?

Re: Welcome

Sure. Darren doesn't have time to post to his game daily (and when he does he doesn't even bother to check his posts to make sure they make sense), so I might as well join a new game with all this free time.

Is "Hobbet" how you plan to avoid cease and desist letters from the Tolkien estate?

Pretty sure Ways hasn't received any yet...

Don't worry, Scott. It's going to be ok. You're among the little people now!

Re: Welcome

Scott, I posted some stat rolls for you over in the Chargen thread: https://forum.immersiveink.com/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=831

The first post of that thread has a summary of our house-rules. In a nutshell, we are using Delving Deeper ruleset, the only race is Hobbets, and allowable classes are Fighter, Druid, Thief (or any multiclass combination).

Welcome aboard!

Re: Welcome

Regarding the spelling of "hobbet" I can't speak for @waysoftheearth but I suspect it might be a tongue-in-cheek reference to that whole controversy of which you speak.

As an official editor of Delving Deeper, I will say that the spelling of "Hobbet" was absolutely intentional and something I constantly had to check for. There was mention of avoiding copyrights with the "et" spelling, but I've no idea how serious the tone actually was since it was all written.

Re: Welcome

I'm pretty sure the "Hobbet" spelling only appears in the (to date) work-in-progress DDV5.

It mainly serves the dual purposes of 1) being as near to the original 3LBBs as it is legally possible to be, while 2) respecting the Tolkien estate.

But it also appeals to me as a (small but notable) piece of creativity which is part of what also makes DD5 uniquely its own thing.

Enjoy it for what it is :)
