I must have mis-described something. The east corridor is only 10' long, and ends at a door, behind which you hear nothing

The door is opened onto a room that is 40' wide, and 30' tall, centered on the door. There is a door on the north wall, 20' from the east. The room is empty, but smells of wolf

Wiglaff is apt to be cautious at this point.

"One door too many, I say! We have won great stores of treasure (and magic!), we have doubled our knowledge of this level -- and we have also lost comrades. Let us return to the surface now & come back refreshed."

Wiglaff wants to gather up the bodies of Yarpera and Wodan, and take the elevator back upstairs.
