Golguldir (neutrally aligned) does not see overmuch profit descending further until this level has been searched, but he keeps his thoughts to himself.

"Alas, we lack the twine to descend and return safely," he remarks sadly. "Perhaps we should check yonder doors in case there are enemy about to catch us off guard?"

"And we might find some rope," Rhod adds, mentally preparing himself for battle.

"Tsk! Tcha! Or mayhaps we may even find stairs, eh? Eh? Medoubts ogres traverse ropes with ease! No, no, indeed. No. Doors, yes!"

Catweazle agrees with going for the doors, in other words.
