I think I made a stupid mistake. Having grown used to simplified exchange rates (1GP=10SP=100CP) from other editions, I assumed that I had enough to buy a coat of mail. But after checking the Price of Goods list, I found that 1GP=6SP=36SP, meaning that Beringar only has 14SP in coin (and he's reluctant to part with his other belongings). So there can be no mail for him, unless the Quartermaster suddenly forgets how to count (as I did, since I couldn't afford it even with the other rate)...

While it is my mistake, it kind of fits Beringar, who isn't used to handling larger sums of cash. Or "advanced" mathematics. ;)
No problem, a leather jack will serve; it's only one pip of AC difference by my house rules (leather = AC7, mail = AC6).

Re: Out Of Character

Like Danham, I'd like to finish exploring, at least, one dungeon in this game. ;)

So far, we've started several, left...or been run out...and never really gone back to finish the exploration of any of them. Let's see, there's been: the ruin, the area around the stone bridge, the area under our Maise, the crypts and caverns under Ket, the Abbey and I've probably missed some. How about we go finish *one* before we start another?

Oh, and isn't there supposed to be a horde of gold buried under the Abbey somewhere, too? We could sure use a horde of gold! If we had a horde of gold, we might be able to hire an army to go fight the Snorks while we stick to exploring dark holes under hill and dale. :)

There is a vein of silver. Dorgan would not be upset to hear the group was interested in securing the site and perhaps setting up a mine.

Ways, how far away is the nearest dwarven settlement?

haha... OK, you have my vote for this, based on the above alone. I concur with actually completing one dungeon/structure exploration.

Although, you guys don't know what kind of creepiness is to be found in the UNDER under dark of the abbey. You weren't on that dais, hearing noises and seeing glints of eye shine flash just outside of torchlight. Desmond is willing to go back down there... as long as he has at least another 3 or 4 party members with him.

Also, WOTE, if Desmond still has his chain mail armour, and if we decide to go to the Abbey and make it a base of operations, he would prefer to bring that and the steel helms with him to leave there for safe keeping/future use, should he find himself about to participate in a battle where more protection would be preferential to being sneaky.

Re: Out Of Character

Another benefit of clearing the Abbey is that, potentially, we could take in refugees from Ket (like the Sisters), who could become allies and aid us in future endeavors.

If we decide to go to one of the goblin fortresses, I wasn't really picturing that as a frontal assault on the entire goblin army, but rather the start of a guerilla campaign: harrass them on the move, pick off their patrols and stragglers, sabotage their roads and bridges, poison their food/water, spread disease, etc.

It's a feature of D&D that the underworld go on and on and on... possibly forever!

In D&D there are some creatures that cannot be harmed by "normal" weapons.
There are other creatures that can only be harmed by silver or magical weapons.

I might need to review what's what, but my initial reaction to the above is that a hero with a normal sword could harm the former, but not the latter.

Maybe Ket, the ruined Keep, and the Abbey are connected? :D
