"Intriguing," Ulric says from the doorway. "Perhaps it is where the items we were sent her for were stored? Or the abbey treasure vault? Or perhaps more clues as to who these sisters really were. As you say, these invaders would not have time to construct all this."

Ulric makes one last check in the outside corridor shining his lantern to the north and south to make sure no one is lurking nearby.

"Right then Torben. Let's get this door closed and secured so we can investigate this mystery in relative security. Does anyone have a spike?"

OOC: I'm sold. Let's check out this mystery door.

"A hidden treasure room would be a perfect place to store the treasures we're here for," Dieter says.

"Okay. If we're all going, then we go. No more splitting up.

"And I want a fighting-man to go first. In case of trouble."

With that, he looks around for some place to affix his grappling hook, so we don't need someone to stay up here to hold the rope.

ooc: nope hoping to wedge the door closed so nothing can get in, BUT we can get out quickly by removing the wedge. Not sure if we have the material waiting on ways.

ehiker133 wrote:Since they have the belay rope on, Desmond calls up for enough slack to walk the 30 or 40 feet to the door to examine it (for anything notable about it, like how it was made, what it is made of, if it appears to be locked, that sort of thing) and then he listens at the door. Once that is done, he returns to the bottom of the stairs.
The rest of the company wait at the top of the stair while Desmond/Mondes creeps carefully down the passage to the great, iron door. Having not seen "Return of the Jedi" our halfling is unaware that it resembles Jabba the Hutt's front door, but is impressed, non the less, by the awesome, rusty, iron bulkhead. To be honest, it looks at least as immovable as the rocky walls around it.

There are no handle, door knocker, or hinges to be seen. In fact, the only features whatever on the "door" are series of rusty rivets all over it, and a fist-sized circle in the center, slightly higher than head-height for a halfling. Set about an inch into the circle is a solid iron sphere that wholly occupies the space. Desmond/Mondes wonders if it is really a "wall" rather than a "door"..?

Having examined the iron door for a moment, Desmond/Mondes returns to the others -- taking care to miss the trick step this time -- and tells his tale.

There is general a parable as this new intelligence is shared, while Wen locates a couple of smallish femurs that he supposes will serve well enough as a door jam. Dorgan, ever practical, reckons he could split a couple of neat wedges of timber off the shelves to do an ever better job of it... not more than a couple o' minutes work.
