It's all in then.
{Wen and Josiane have to cross the room to engage, so will attack last. Initiative is rolled 1d6; Dieter=6+1, Dorgan=1, Desmond/Mondes=4, The Thing=6. Dieter attacks with dagger d20=12,2, misses. The Thing replies d20=20,11, one hit for d6=4 hp. Desmond attacks d20=12,8, misses. Dorgan attacks d20=9,1 misses. Wen attacks d20=10 misses. Josiane attacks d20=18,10 one hit for d6=2 hp. Dieter saves versus petrification d20=13, success (needed a 10+).}
Dieter whips out his belt dagger and tries to fend off the horrid thing looming over him, but the mass of creeping twisting tentacles entwine about him, sending sharp jolts of electricity crackling across his body repeatedly. It's agony, but somehow the big man remains conscious.
As the aberration scoops Dieter bodily from the floor in its writhing tentacles Dorgan, Desmond, Wen and Josiane all fly to his aid, but in all the shouting and confusion they confound one another and only Josiane deals more than a glancing blow, severing one of the many tentacles with her blade.
The enemy is beginning to levitate back and up, carrying Dieter aloft to some awful fate...
What now?
