Re: (052) Reckoning the Abbey

"Gently, gently!!" squeaks Josiane, despite the fact that Gustave is in fact being relatively gentle with his plunder.

She will examine the recovered objects with care and reverence, seeking any insight into their history and properties...

Wen watches the hobbits attempts to remove the blindness. Frowns at the results and speaks "Maybe it is time to move on. If this sightlessness doesn;t wear off then likely only the Sisters of Mercy have the power to remove it. Since we are heading back to them it seems the natural course."

"Gee thanks Gustave, I needed a drink. Now how do we turn on the lights in here?"
Rufus takes a drink only because he is thirsty, cursing his the dumb luck to get blindness.

Rufus may be blind but he will use his other senses as he waits for a cure, listening carefully to what is happening around him and in the distance.

dice clattering...

Josiane examines Gustave's haul with reverent eyes... the gnarled, wooden staff calls her attention firstly. Could it be...? Her hand reaches to touch it, but it does not smart. Nay, it feels far more substantial than it looks; the aged wood it is neither light nor brittle and feels more substantial than iron. She lifts it with growing certainty in her mind. There are no markings upon it, but there need not be; Josiane is convinced! This is a Theriac Stave! One of three such staves that were given to three sisters by Angels at the founding of the Sisterhood of Mercy. That she should find such a thing here!

The small lockbox warrants only a glance as Armando fidgets with it...

The array of wooden bowls and cups are... a pale curiosity to her eyes while the Theriac Stave rests in her hand. Whether they are of some greater significance escapes her.

OOC: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theriac A medical concoction, it was an alexipharmic, or antidote, considered a universal panacea... sounds promising doesn't it?

By legend these miraculous staves have the power to cure all ills. By lore she is less certain... she would need to know the correct orison to invoke its Holy power. Alas, these are not verses the young templar maiden has at the forefront of her mind; what chance that she would ever need such knowledge??

She might mediate upon her long distant schooling or search Thuul's prayers for clues, or employ some other cleverness to divine the correct versus...

Gustave observes Josiane's widened eyes and beatific grin with some interest, "I take it you have found something of note, my dear?" he observes.

Re: (052) Reckoning the Abbey

Invisible Highbough softly runs his fingers along the shaft of his Ire Spear. He feels metallic ridges what might be writing; perhaps an ancient script that can only be read when the metal is heated red-hot? The decrepit Elf may be old [con 5], but an inner well of magic sustains him with adolescent vigor [str 13, dex 12]. He might have one more good fight in him, if he can just escape from this blasted abbey back to the forest, he can rest his old bones on a leafy bed and die peacably in his sleep, instead of getting his limbs dissolved by an ooze or his face melted by a holy relic. These are Highbough's idle thoughts as he keeps a watchful post at the door.
