I wait until the party has a agreement on the next move, into the cave or back to camp.
In meantime I will mention something about the Torchbearer / Porter / Men-at-Arms. In game terms Shoul has a higher loyalty then Rik. Rik is more cautious then Shoul and less convinced that it safe to go into dark scary places. Now you can get always insist that Rik go in but thus far he has generally managed to avoid the initial exploration phase and volunteered, wisely, to watch Mule. [But remember danger can cause a loyalty check]
Hiring a specific Man-at-Arms is always an option, Baymoor Castle would be the perfect place to find such a fellow. You have to pay them more but so far money has not been a problem for this party.
