Excellent. I'm ready to head back, my vote is to head to the elevator and begin exploring Level 4.

I would be willing to roll up a magic user, if you think that's a good idea? I enjoy playing spellcasters, but haven't done it in a while.
1st level PC on the 4th dungeon level will be challenging, but if he dies horribly, then I can go back to playing Franklin.

I was going to give him 4000 xp, and of course the Wand of Fire and Wand of Cold. You CAN adventure without an MU, but is is nice to have some flexibility. At least Maloof has some spell-like abilities

If we have a new player joining, then welcome to the party!
Happy to let them play the MU and take the wands.
I'm just brainstorming here:
Maybe I could be an elf instead of a MU (so the new player and I don't step on each others' toes, thematically).
I feel like maybe, having reached max level, Franklin would scale back to part-time adventuring and only come along on the most dangerous delves (or when my new character is tied up with spell/item research).
Franklin would want the ring of invisibility to stay in play. Maloof gets my vote for ringbearer.
Balbo and Drogo might consider sticking with the party, we'll see.

I think what is most important, is for you, mushgnome, to do what you find most enjoyable, without worrying about the meta or the party composition, balance, need, etc
You have done fine so far. But there is absolutely no issue with parking your character for a while and bringing another one.

I have some character ideas but for now, Franklin is going to take one more 'victory lap' with the party. His excellent saving throws will come in handy as the party breaches level four!

Of the 248gp spends Franklin spends 225gp on the following equipment:
100gp for 20 silver arrows, 10 each for Balbo and Drogo
225gp for 9 flasks of holy water, 3 each for Franklin, Balbo, Drogo
