Catweazle is retiring from the next adventure

That gives you the following party:

2 level 1 fighters (Rhos, Grampus)
2 level 2 clerics (Aldbane, Serech)
1 level 1 cleric (Maloof)
1 level 1 MU (Golguldir)

Great melee, good support, a bit low on utility

Your only henchman is Francis the torchbearer

Golgildir will probably want to hire a few men-at-arms

HIGHLIGHTS OF DELVE 3
- Rhod and Grampus fall in a pit that chutes them down 100 feet to an ogre lair. They are hauled back up to safety after killing ogre. Possible alternate route to deeper levels found.

- encounter a new species, two griffon-headed taloned humanoids with swords

- met Pres the imposing, a magic user looking for rare potion ingredients, and willing to pay for them. Here is a sample of the things he could use: "A troll's testicle, a dragon's heart, the tongue of a lizard, a manticore's ear, magic water, soluble slime, semi-precious gems - all would be useful." He updates you on the geography "Well, the northern door leads to my guards and laboratory and library. I have a small set of rooms here. Feel free to head east though. I believe all monsters in this northern section have been cleared by my men and I". You respected his wishes and headed east

- you encountered a room that magically generated good food and drink

- you met talking furniture that traps anything that sits on it

- encounter a new species, seven-foot tall walking bear-like creatures with three legs and three arms

- you heard about a goblin generator to the south (you keep getting attacked by groups of 7 goblins)

- you found stairs down in a room with two armored men. They demanded a 10 gp per party member toll to descend to level 2. They also warned you not to head east from their room as nobody ever returned.

- you killed a deadly swordsman

- all your henchies died

Apologies for my recent absence folks. I'm back now.

Golgildir suggests that the fighty-types be responsible for the hiring of men at arms, and basic dungeoneering supplies (food, oil, rope, torches/lanterns, etc.), freeing up the M-Us and clerics to spend their gold on spell scrolls.

If everyone is agreeable with the gist of this, Golgildir will seek to purchase four 1st level spell scrolls (assuming this is 400 gp?), and with his remaining gold, he will seek the service of a redoubtable valet/torch-bearer to accompany him on his future journeys. In order to attract a quality individual, he intends to hire over and above the standard going rate (which is... ?).

Makofan I noticed the other players have a stable of 3 PCs? If our party needs another spell caster, would I have the option to swap out Grampus and roll a new character?

Meanwhile, Grampus hires armored footmen (or footdwarves, if available). I believe his charisma allows a maximum of 3? He also shops for potions useful to a fighter: healing, heroism, giant's strength, etc.

Yes, great summary! Aldbane will work on crafting four scrolls as well, and will memorize cure light wounds. I don't think a replacement for Catweazle is strictly necessary, given the number of scrolls we'll have available. But it won't hurt, either.

Yes, you could roll an MU if you like

Your charisma affects henchmen. With enough gold there is no limit to the number of mercenaries a character can employ.

It takes one week to create any spell scroll and costs 100 gp per spell level.

You can not work on scrolls concurrently, so I will let you rest one week and have everybody create one scroll.
