experience points for < 1HD monsters?

The hypertext rules state:

Experience points are also earned by defeating monsters. 100 XP are awarded for each hit die of each enemy defeated.

If the players have defeated, for instance, 8 kobolds (1/2 HD each), how many XP would they be awarded? 400 XP?

The by-the-book rules are not prescriptive, but that sounds pretty reasonable to me
