The elevator clanks down to the 3rd floor (you presume). This time, the elevator opens to the south. Through the grating, you can see a reasonable sized room, about 30x40, but your attention is centered on the armored figure standing right at the elevator gate, sword and shield ready for a fight, blocking your way out. "The toll to use the elevator on this floor is 50 gold pieces, paid to me, Rhodan the Six-Fingered". He looks pretty confident

"How'd you like the name 'Rhodan the No-Fingered'?" Maloof thinks but thankfully doesn't say out loud.

Can we see enough of the room to know whether or not Rhodan is alone? Any place out there for accomplices to be hiding?

"Excuse me, Sir Rhodan," says Wiglaff from behind several ranks of hearty fighting folk. "Don't jump to any conclusions. We're not even sure we want to explore this level -- we're just testing out the elevator. Though if we were disposed to explore here, how could you, one man, expect to stand against thirteen? Especially when we count several Heroes in our number!"

That "you presume" is sensible but also ominous.
