I haven't specifically gone through everyone's character sheets in some weird fit of OCD, making sure everyone has everything listed, but... Maybe not a bad idea to a) be sure and update your character sheet any time they get something new in their hands and b) give your character sheet a good once-over every time you're in a new situation (start of combat, facing a new puzzle (or an old puzzle, even), enter a new room, etc. For instance, we have a bowl that can heal if you drink holy water from it. Surely there is maybe someplace where we can find water that is either already holy or easily made that way (the Reliquary?). We have a staff (that looks like a bit of driftwood) that might be useful for fighting undead or healing party members....
By way of example...

Who has the Rosary Beads that will protect the wearer from evil when the inscribed prayer is invoked? After carefully reading through several pages of posts after it was listed among the magical items, I don't see any indication of ANYONE taking it. Not smart on our part! Everyone should check their inventories, just in case. That could be right useful, to be sure!

In fact... If it has been missed, and WOTE will allow us to correct this oversight, Desmond will certainly put in for a chance to have possession of it.

Very good! I did come across that information when I was reading through Topic (55) just now. If Josiane can make holy water (Blessing spell? Something else?) we should maybe make a priority of having several vials of holy water on hand. Maybe try and salvage some empty vials from the infirmary and use the water from the Reliquary as a water source (and location for blessing, if it takes time and a safe haven is needed for the ritual).

If anyone has any holy water they've already acquired (again, I don't like sorting through inventory to look at this stuff; I think monitoring one's own inventory is paramount in playing the game), possibly Torben should hold on to it so as to properly be able to use the cup.

Just as a reminder, Olaf still has the Resplendant Scepter which would be useful in the pit or perhaps further along.

hmm? I offered to carry the beads but I seem to remember several other people speaking up and Josiane wanting Dorgan to carry them? But I can't seem to find that part of the thread....

I don't know that I specifically refused them but I remember thinking that Dorgan would have been uncomfortable with them, as he interpreted them as representing the Gods of Man and Dorgan is a Soul-Forger kind of dwarf.

So yeah, Dorgan doesn't have them. We might as well assume Josiane kept them since no one took her up on the idea of carrying them.

It might have been an OOC discussion, which would be easily pinpointed by locating OOC discussion around that date in the appropriate thread.

[brief pause for additional research...]

It is not on anyone's inventory sheet.

Here it is. mgtremaine did offer to hold them. Think you forgot to post in the IC thread and update inventory, Mike.

Looks like Sully mentioned holding them, but, as you said, you weren't comfortable with it.

Also, wouldn't have done Desmond any good, as it appears one must be of the Lawful disposition to use them.

Re: Out Of Character

I think the thread got edited :), I read through that area also and something is missing, if you read in between the lines. But like I said I'd be happy to carry them.

sully wrote:Do we know for sure that Hero-level characters wielding a normal weapon can hit monsters immune to normal weapons? I'm guessing so, since Dieter was slaying shadows with his normal sword, but I wanted to be sure.
Yes, a normal weapon is considered heroic when wielded by a heroic type.

There are monsters that are invulnerable to normal weapons.
There are other monsters are only affected by magic weapons.
A hero with a normal sword could certainly hit the former.

Whether or not a hero with a normal sword could hit the latter is something of a "grey area". If we go all the way back to Chainmail's Fantasy Combat Table we see that a hero with a normal weapon can slay an elemental, implying that a hero with a normal weapon can hit a monster only hit by magic weapons. On the otherhand, I'm pretty sure AD&D went in the opposite direction.

In the end, this particular game is more informed by Chainmail and OD&D, and less informed by AD&D.

danhem wrote:Just as a reminder, Olaf still has the Resplendant Scepter which would be useful in the pit or perhaps further along.
If memory serves (this is going back a bit now) Olaf left the Resplendent Scepter with the Sisters of Mercy in Ket, as part of the "security" on his Holy Absolution (circumstances being as they are, it's unclear whether that particular absolution will ever be forthcoming!).

Regarding the other "loot", it's entirely up to the players who is carrying what. I don't mind if you want to do a "swap around" right now--it's up to you. Alignment/race/class should be considered, but it's largely up to you (remembering there a no XP for magic items, so it's merely a matter of who is carrying what).

Following this, I will try to add a list of "key" items for each PC to the vital stats page as a reminder for everyone (including me!)
