"If you have to, but I'd rather keep the outer wall intact,"
Ulric replies. "I don't want to create more avenues for our foes to attack us. They have the numbers, so the narrow corridors are to our advantage."

Ulric looks up at giant Guntrum and adds

"Mostly."

The Blighted Passage
(Josiane, Desmond/Mondes, Dorgan, Dieter and Wen)

Desmond/Mondes and Wen see the last of the wolf-pack scamper off down the corridor, and hope that's the last they'll see of them!

Meanwhile, the fighting...

{Initiative is rolled 1d6; Dieter=4+1, Dorgan=4, Wolfmen=3, Priests=6. The priests chant. Dieter attacks 1d20=15,7, hits once for 1d6=2 hit points. Dorgan attacks 1d20=13, 14, two hits for 2d6=6+2 damage. Wolfmen attack 1d20=17,4,16,9, Dieter is hit for 1d6=1 hit point, Dorgan is hit for 1d6=5 hit points!}

...escalates to another level of brutality. The black priests chant on, charging the two wolfmen with unnatural zeal; they push themselves to harder, but Dieter and Dorgan are ready and cut the pair of them down with sword and axe! But the second rank immediately push over their fallen comrades to engage the hard-pressed fighters; Dieter takes another minor scratch but Dorgan takes another serious blow.

{Dorgan has 4/19 hit points. Dieter has 12/18 hit points.}

"Wen, watch the hallway, make sure and warn us if the wolves come back," Desmond growls. Then he positively barks at Dorgan, "Dorgan, pull back! Let us have a shot!"

Desmond grips his sword and shield tightly, ready to take Dorgan's place in the front line, should he fall back or just plain fall...

All defense, no attacking this round.

OOC: I assume Des was yelling at Dorgan and not Guntrum.

Seeing that despite his impressive recent developments in stature, Guntrum has gained nothing in intellect, Gustave sighs to himself and decides it is time to act.

Spying Torben coming up from the rear, he calls out "Torben! A hand. Perhaps together we can add some momentum to this great oaf and break this stalemate."

Sheathing his sword, he then bends his shoulder into the rear of giant Guntrum as one might barge a door, taking care to place his head to the side and hoping the sudden pressure will not trigger anything unpleasant.

Oops! Sorry. Long night. I'll go fix that...

Fixed.

The West Chamber
(Torban, Rufus, Gustave, Ulric, Guntram and Armando)

Up High...
Giant Guntram finds his view of the retreating wolves obscured by the surrounding roof tops. In the dimness below he hears the voices of his fellows piquing, but all that seems pleasantly far away with his head in the sunlight at roof level... around him he now spies the disastrously blackened and blasphemed buildings of the abbey. It's quite a different sight to that which he observed approaching the place.

Across an inner courtyard (which he could read in a few strides through a wall) Giant Guntram see the main structure of the abbey, surrounded by a shallow moat of burning tar. A broad double door is open -- perhaps 60 to 80ft distant, and guarded by black robed priests who have seen him and are retreating into the building.

Down Below...
Those in the dusty dimness below see none of this, but note grimly that the bones piled around the stake could very easily have been human. Gustave tries to push Giant Guntram toward the retreating wolves, but his strength is no match for the massively-limbed giant's.
