"Guntrum speaks truly," says Josiane; "There is great wisdom in your words about strength in numbers, Lord Olaf, but, with your pardon, abandon this door as it is and a mere sweep of a hand to knock away yon crowbar will see to it that we all sleep with the dead. We must have the mastery of this stone, or at least brace it more securely, before we can proceed."

She casts her glance around the silent vault questioningly. "This door was raised when you first entered the outer chamber? Do I have that a-right?" she asks.

"Thank you, friend Desmond,"says Josiane, flashing her sweet smile at the Hobbit.

She contemplates the silent vault again; "Then either sorcery dropped this stone into place," she murmurs, "or something of mortal design happened to make it fall..."

Her grey eyes focus on the box from which the gold has been spilt.

"I wonder..."

She moves across to kneel beside the coffer that held the coin, although she is careful to touch neither container nor riches.

"Dorgan, when your search of the door is complete will you join me? I have need of your eyes..."

The Third Vault

Then others come under the door as Dorgan completes his inspection. Everyone is now in the expanse of the cold, dark third vault, with temping crates and chests of coin lie exposed between the hulking stone sarcophagi...

Josiane goes to the overturned box where coin are spilled across the central passage, and even with her untrained eye sees that there is something different here... is the flagstone that the coin box sits upon raised above the others half an inch..?

"Ya got sharp eyes, Miss," says Dorgan, while looking over the coin box. "Looks like once the coin wasn't holdin' down the box, it popped up and the trap was sprung."

Dorgan ran his fingers through his beard, lost in thought for a moment.

"Wonder if we can take the spilled coin with us now and put something else in the box to raise the door back up?"

OOC: Dorgan will examine the box and the floor to see if he can confirm his suspicions. He won't touch the gold as of yet.

It seems quite plain to Dorgan now that he sees it -- it is a sprung stone. If at least the correct amount of weight is placed upon it, it should depress the mechanism -- and hopefully lower the counter-weights to open the door. Relieving the weight should cause the reverse to happen -- making the door drop. All in theory, o' course.

As the others continue to ponder the trap and the coins Ulric remains watchful of the passages leading out of the chamber. Something carried off their comrades and there was no reason to believe that it would not return.

Highbough is light as a feather, so he stands watch while one of his huskier comrades tests the pressure plate.
