And then she finally takes in the scene before her.

"What has happened? Where are Wibert and Sir Pelenwin?"

Finally the penny drops.

"Thuul save us!"

She scurries to the half-open door, drops to one knee and uses her torch to try and illuminate the room beyond, crouching down to see what can be seen (although she is careful not to put any limbs or her head or any other part of her under the monstrous stone door, least it drop again and squash her flat).

Dorgan looks at Guntrum, looks back up at the dark stairs, shrugs, and begins to climb the other set of stairs to meet up with the main group.

"It ain't a vampeer, but that don't make it any less scary!"

Gustave and Josiane note with distaste the score of charred and burned corpses that litter the otherwise chill chamber, and can only image what might have taken place here earlier...

Josiane peers under to door by her torch light, and sees another, cold, dark vault beyond. There are a number of bulky, standing stone pillars that seem to near form a passage into the dark... and... are those boxes of gold coins between the pillars? One of the nearer boxes -- not 20ft into the room -- appears spilled across the floor...

Gustave, meanwhile, reckons he could jam Dieter's crowbar (a 30in long steel bar) into the stone runner on one side of the door to prevent it from closing.... if the stout bar will hold the door's weight.
