Meanwhile, up front, Dieter takes up the lead once more, and the company turns left and trudges on down the grim passageway.

Soon enough Dieter reaches a T intersection from where he can continue straight ahead -- toward the "cleaned" passageway -- or else turn to his right.

If he stands still for a moment, he can just about detect the rumoured draft upon his face. Just about. Or is it just wishful thinking?

Ulric takes the tallow and holds it up before his own and Dieter's faces and they both stare intently at the hungry little flame...

It dances this way and that for a moment, before finally settling into a gentle lean toward Ulric. The jaunty candle flame tells that there is indeed a faint draft drifting toward the company out of the untrodden passage to Dieter's right.
