By the time he reaches the sixth ledge and the door arch there he spies yet another exit. This one is three more ledges down, and just visible to Pelenwin in the dim light. The door arch here is open and dark, and a very faint, cool breeze can be felt moving out of it. Looking up, Pelenwin can see his fellow trailing him single file, still on the fifth and fourth ledges.

Looking down, there is no sign whatever of an end to the central shaft, but from here there are no further timber works to assist the descent. To descend any further one would have to risk jumping down from one narrow ledge to the next, or else contrive some alternate means...

Does Pelenwin mean to lead the company into this passage-way? Or else use Dieter's loyal rope and grappling hook to contrive some means of climbing further down?
