The two stairs that descend to the dungeon level are narrow, stone spiral affairs which cannot themselves be closed off. However, each stair opens onto a small landing from where a person could choose to climb to the roof-top, descend to the dungeon level, or else move into the mess hall, or the dormitory (depending upon which stair we are talking about).

These landings are effectively small "rooms" which have normal doors. These doors can be closed.

"Do not Split up Pelenwin it would be wise to wait until the others are back with the cart before scouting outside, I feel eyes are watching us and we must be careful not to split up unless we have to. They will surely attack when we are split up", says Wibert anxiously.
