The brigand hears him coming before he has covered half the distance and gives a shout of warning "Beware!" he hails, then lets slip his missile, firing hastily at Gustave (1d20=5) but he shot is low and wide. Gustave makes a desperately reaching lunge as the fellow turns to scamper off down the opposite face of the ridge (1d20=7) but he cannot catch him.

Before Gustave is properly at the ridge top his quarry is alreay skidding down the opposite rock face toward his fellows yelling "They're in the gully! They're in the gully!"

Wibert will take a ridge towards the brigands and look around for any bad guys to back stab else he will use his short bow to attack once any battle starts.
