It is plain to see that it is possible to surprise folk as they pass over any of the nearby ridges, or perhaps as they pass by some of the rocky outcroppings. But with the supposed antagonists travelling more or less in line with the ridges, rather than across them, it will be harder remain hidden from their sight.mushgnome wrote:Highbough looks around for the best ambush location.
"If so many of them are out here looking for us," muses Highbough, "then perhaps now is the time to strike at the tower? Besides, I am getting worried about that strange little Dwarf in there all on his own."waysoftheearth wrote:It is plain to see that it is possible to surprise folk as they pass over any of the nearby ridges, or perhaps as they pass by some of the rocky outcroppings. If they travel in the vales (as they might do if they are indeed following the company's trail) then it might be possible to launch an attack from both flanks at once. But this will only work if the quarry approaches in a column. If they form a line (as they might do if searching for marks or clues) it will be difficult. In any case, you will have to guess which vale they will traverse and position yourself ahead of them...

It takes but a moment for Highbough to scuttle down from his position among the rocks and convey the situation to the his companions.
