Highbough retrieves his daggers from Gustave's limp hand before he and Ulric together drag the fallen fighting Man into the mouth of the dunjon where he is covered from further harm.
Olaf stands tall and bends his bow once more, this time aiming further off into the dim ravine where his sharp eyes spy a knave just beginning to turn from the loosing battle to make off. Olaf looses his arrow (1d20=16) striking the scarcely visible shadow for (1dd=1) 1 hit point, but just as the fellow turns to flee he almost runs into Wibert, who has crept right up behind him. Before he can even remark upon the Halfling's cooking Wibert lunges at him most unexpectedly with a large knife (1d20=19) plunging the blade right into his belly "Cook!" chokes the knave, wide-eyed with surprise (2dd=1,5) suffering a fatal 5 hit points, then his eyes glaze over and he drops to the ground at the Halfling's feet.
Nidhogg grabs another fist-sized stone and scampers between the two large chest to peer down the embankment, where upon he soon spots the last fellow who has just finished hastily ransacking Padrig's body! Nidhogg hurls his rock (1d20=6) but his aim is poor and the rock clatters wide.
Meanwhile Thorgrim and Andaros team up on the remaining knave. Initiative is rolled (1d6; Knave=1(+1), Thorgrim=3, Andaros=1(-1)). Thorgrim responds to the Knave's taunts over his beard with a series of fierce slashes, axe in either hand. "Yer kind ought to learn some manners!" he growls (1d20=8) but can't strike down the slippery fellow, who dodges and weaves, ever backing away from his two opponents now. Then he darts to one flank (target selection: 1-3=Thorgrim, 4-6=Andaros;1d6=5) singling out the slower Andaros and (1d20=15) catchng him with a gruesome slash which deal him (1dd=4) 4 hit points and a nasty cut across his upper chest. But Andaros merely grits his teeth against the sharp pain and unpeterbed strikes back (1d20=13) smashing a gouging axe blow into his foe's chest for (1dd=6) 7 hit points, splitting hide carapace and ribs, and splitting open the fellow's heart with a bloddy splat. He drops to one knee, coughs one bloody cough, then collapses properly to the rocky floor.
As this is ended, Deggerhund swipes wildly at Mads and Dieter while Pelenwin defends their flank. Initiative is rolled (1d6; Dieter=4(+1), Knave1=3(+1), Mads=2(+1), Ogre=2, Pelenwin=4(-2)).
The melee churns madly on. Dieter stabs and slashes with hardened efficiency (1d20=13) and connects (2dd=3,4) for 6 hit points, causing Deggerhund to howl "Curse yer wretched piece o' flith!". Mads too attempts to pierce the Ogre (1d20=1) but cannot but place himself in harm's way. Deggerhund blocks another blow from Dieter against his notched blucker then pounces at Mads (1d20=8), but even with the fighting Man off balance, Deggerhund cannot make best advantage of the situation.
On their flank Pelenwin's foe whirls his blades speedily about, slashing and hewing at every opportunity (1d20=2) but never besting Pelenwin's guard. And at last Pelenwin has his reply (1d20=15) and lands an enormous sweeping swing of his heavy pole axe (3dd=3,4,1) which smites his foe for 4 hit points.
"That... hurt..." gasps the Knave, before dropping dead.
