Victor rents one of Albert's upstairs rooms, hides the sacks of silver and gold coins under the matress, and settles in to guard it until everyone else returns, later in the day.

Padrig takes Rodrick's gear to the Temple of Thuul.

Flewellen heads off to the Traders' Concourse, in search of their library of lore and history.

Taines, Mads, Dieter, Anwyn set about testing some of Albert's ales once the common room re-opens.

Olaf, Ulric, Gustave and Caine split the remaining loot into jeweller and antiques and set off to get each lot appraised.

• Caine and Gustave take the jewellery (14 gems, 1 red eye gem, the crude brass ring, the white gold ring, the damaged argent choker, the gilded letter opener, and the copper ring set with a dark stone) off to the jeweller on Crib street.
• Olaf and Ulric take the antiques (a small black iron key on a leather thong, a heavy silver goblet, a plain gold ring, a short brass scepter, an oynx idol, a broad belt of brass and bronze clasps) off in search of an antiques dealer, starting on Crib street.

Considering their fair share of the treasure hunting done, Taines, Mads, Dieter and Anwyn leave aside the remaining matters to the rest of the company and slap their scant coin purses (nobody has touched the loot yet) down upon Albert's front bar and order up a round of his finest (actually, Taines, with his Dwarfish love of gold, has well more in his purse than the rest put together).

"Good sirs," says Albert cheerfully having thrown the doors of his common room open to the public once more, "Moight Oi recommend a pint o' me Plowman's Draft? Tis a refreshing drop that one. Or, if ye prefer something fuller of comfert, there's me Widehearth Ale."

Taines is about to order up, but Albert is on a roll, "But if ye taste runs to something stancher, oi do a punchy mead, and o' course there's port and brandy fer when the chill is on the air. O' course it's scarce noon on a weekday!" he laughs happily.

"What'll it be?" he asks, clattering an array of wooden tankards upon the bar before you.

The Market Square

Flewellen, Padrig, Olaf, Ulric, Gustave and Caine leave the Plow and Furrow together, and all head up the Main way toward the market square.

Mid morning is waning toward a cool, grey noon. The streets are peopled by noisey Men who seem largely to be of the mercantile creed, with a few farmers, mercenaries and artisans running errands among them.

The company marches along Main way and soon reaches the market square where they find that the bulk of trade seems to have been accomplished. The smell of animals, broken vegetables, and the muddy hay underfoot are all thick in the air. The farm folk here are beginning to pack away their goods and stalls and to ready their carts for departure. On the fringe of the market square there are half a dozen watchman loitering about, presumably in some sort of "official" capacity. However, none of the company is particularly impressed by their demeanor -- they seem to be lazy slouches, who pick and annoy the citizenry for their own amusement.

None the less, it is here the company parts ways on their various errands, for Flewellen, Caine and Gustave must carry on along Main way, while Olaf and Ulric must turn right along Flea street, and Padrig must veer between Main and Flea to head along Bow street...

Padrig veers to his right from the market and presses on past the market into Bow street where he finds wood workers, carvers, fletchers, carpenters, cart-wrights and lumberers all plying their trades from open fronted yards and workshops.

He now carries his heavy burden through the streets of Ket alone, and becomes keenly aware of the eyes of the citizenry upon him as he goes.

Some of the Men on the street even shy away from Padrig, or stop what they are doing to gaze openly at him as he passes. Clearly they are not accustomed to the presence of the fair folk, Padrig decides.

He makes an occassional polite gesture, and presses on past a busy mill where the air is ripe with the tang of raw sap and cut sawdust, and toward the steeple which he now sees ahead of him.

At last he reaches the Temple of Thuul. It is a tall structure of white and grey marble with great wide arches supporting a steep, copper clad roof that rises up to a lofty steeple. Atop it all is a great silver Enigma of Thuul. Padrig himself is not awestuck by the industry of Thuul's Templars, but neither is he unimpressed.

The Temple stands reverently in the center of a wide cirlce of manicured green grass through which Padrig sees several neat, gravel paths, well tended herb gardens, and trickling water fountains. There is no fence or gate to prevent trespass...

Ulric and Olaf make a sharp right from the market and begin to work their way along Flea street, a muddy, cobbled way where a busy hive of artisans and merchants do their trade. Most of the folk on the narrow street are Men, but Olaf spots a well dressed Snork merchant or two in the crowd.

After passing barely a dozen narrow establishments, the pair come across The Erstwhile Emporium, which is apparently an antiques bizarre that carries an unusual assortment of oddities; Without even entering the cramped premises Ulric spots an elaborate glass smoking pikes, mismatched pieces of armour, carved boxes and chests, folding ladders, furniture, tapestries, spears and axes, and hanging lanterns. It's all there, piled upon shelves, jumbled over bench tops, and hanging from the ceiling. Olaf wonders how customers are supposed to enter the place without knocking piles of stuff over!

There is a beefy looking security man to be seen snickering to himself as he apparently reads from a scroll in the shadows at the rear of the cramped store. The proprietor is nowhere to be seen...
