Olaf says, "I'll go along with you Ulric. Call me your bodyguard for the morning."
As
Ulric and
Olaf gather up the various goods and trinkets to be researched, they consider from whence each article came. The crude brass ring, the copper ring set with its dark stone, and the pot of honey are all of, well, rather mundane Hobgoblin issue. Their manufacture seems unlikely to have been etched in the grand histories of the World.
The white gold ring, the damaged argent choker and the gilded letter opener were all recovered from deceased merchants. Perhaps these, the two rings above, and the plain gold ring from the fountain might be best appraised by a jeweller?
The silver goblet, oynx idol, brass belt and the brass scepter (and possibly, by its association with all these, the plain gold ring?) might be noted somewhere in the histories, but it will be a long and tediuos search without the advice of a wise collector of antiquities...
The libraries still hold a fascination, however.
Ulric and
Flewellen both have it in mind that they might search the Traders' libraries for clues as to the arcane formulae of The Exigent Secernment, a magick which would enable either Man to sense the lingering presence of enchantments.
