I don't know I'm not sure Gustave came this way or not. But the Portal is clearly something important and we probably will end up messing with it. I think we ruled out the obvious "is the approach trapped". The question is what now? If there is any other place Gustave could have gotten to we should think about checking it I guess.

If you leave the lobby and head down the right corridor, and then take the left down that hallway before you get to the infirmary, there is a set of spiral stairs going down on the right-hand side of the hallway.

To my knowledge, nobody in the party has yet to go down there and check anything out, so it is completely unexplored. Before anyone jumps through the hoop, I suggest we check that area out. After that, pretty much everything has been explored, as far as I know.

If I recall right, in the parts of this room you've seen, there hasn't been any tracks found? Or am I wrong?

There was no tracks on the portal ramp but tracks in the room yes.

Nope, that was in the library. And several of us went down there.

before the door to the library, on the opposite side of the hallway, was a stairway going down. We've never been there.

I've spent some time organizing mudmaps. It is on this map, between the library and the infirmary.
