The more I think about this, the more I agree. We should press on with the search for Gustave.

Josiane will certainly want to do everything she can to save her friend, but she has a bee in her bonnet about trying to use the Speculem to track him down. I don't know if that'll work, but it might narrow our search field a bit.

I don't have my game notes handy and I'm not sure precisely when the players realised Gustave was missing. However, I will say it is now sometime during the second hour since re-entering the abbey post defeating the (so called) Tar Fiend. So it is reasonable to say Gustave has been missing at least one hour.

The Queerious Speculem is a variety of Crystal Ball which is usable by clerical-types. According to the DD Ref Rules:

these provide vision of a desired place, person, or object. Great distance and unfamiliarity will decrease the chance that the subject can be located, however.

and

each turn of usage requires a turn of rest thereafter.

So then... it will take at least one turn to perform one search, after which you would require another turn of rest. If you wanted to perform multiple searches, then you would require multiple turns of use (and subsequent rest).

We should definitely do this. Gustave is well known to us and I can't imagine he could have gotten that far away in one hour's time.
