Helmut pushes at the door, before considering his alternative plan.

As he is about to turn, Helmut hesitates a moment and gives the door a nudge with his gauntleted knuckles. And lo! The heavy-duty hinges creak ever so slightly as the door gives an inch.

That the door should stand unanswered and unbarred is a concern. But regardless of that, it now hangs ajar...

The blade of the Tines is out as Helmut pushes the door open and enters the darkness within. He now knows the dwarf will follow - what the others do he cares not.

The door creaks wearily inward, revealing a musty antechamber from which several dim passages pass. More curiously, the place seems a-tangle with a half-dozen suspended crossbows; hanging from wires like corpses on the noose, and others littered haphazardly across the floor with loose bolts scattered among them.

A most unexpected scene...

Valorn will peer in to the nearest passage.

"This is not good" hisses Helmut at the most un-Thuuly scenery.

He turns to the rabble at the door, halting their entrance with a steely eye; "You may wish to wait outside", he suggests.

Turning his mind to the standard layout of such places, he tries to ascertain which way to the main Temple; if there be Sisters that have held against whatever evil has beset this place, they will be there.

Ashtad finishes her job quickly trying to get as much silver coin as possible, and runs to catch up with the the others. Hoping they have not gotten themselves killed yet!

OOC: It is always safer not to split up, coming...

Very good; Ashtad hastily shovels 10lb of coin into her backpack, and trots (her pack now going shunka, shunka, shunka...) to catch up with the others, who are by now completely out of sight...

Meanwhile... the gaggle of followers gasp and swoon when they realise the abbey was trapped against their entering!

"We are forsaken!"
"Doomed!"
"What shall we do now??" they groan dramatically.

Valorn peers past Helmut into the dimness within, and spies two passages extending into the abbey from the dim lobby. These more or less follow the perimeter of the outer wall; one going left, the other right.

Helmut considers for a moment... the chapel would have to be the heart of the abbey, and--if his judgement has not gone awry--that would be reached more directly via the right hand passage.
