^This!

Sometimes I want to say, "Hey, let's all stay together so Ways doesn't have to muck with keeping track of four different groups..."

I never say it, of course... because it wouldn't be our most unique game of The Deep In The Hinterlands if we didn't bungle around and split up and loose half our lootz and maybe a character or two but somehow still manage to come out a little bit ahead (sometimes with two heads!) and limp our way home to fight again, all while managing to actually never make it to the Hinterlands...

Indeed! Our party has history with a giant that ended with fatalities, as well!

When confronted with the decision to face one large enemy or many smaller enemies, and you go with the smaller enemies, this will forever be known as, "Taking the Highbough road"...

he didn't reach 1,000+ years old by running toward the giant!

My apologies if it is confusing

I have often considered breaking the "Lonely Abbey" thread (following two separate groups) into two. I haven't done it would be quite an effort and also the players have been suggesting getting back together again.

Now it looks more like the "West" group will be joining the "Blasted Abbey" thread shortly, which will hopefully make everything a bit clearer for those left in the "Lonely Abbey" thread (including Dieter).

Lesson learned: create new thread immediately whenever players branch off -- you never know how far they will go.

Number one, it's not your fault if anyone finds it confusing. Don't split the party!

Number two, Dorgan is very much in favor of joining up with everyone else. He's a little too close to an early reunion with his ancestors for comfort.

I think our constant splitting up is a function of the size of the party (13!) and the play-by-post format. We keep ending up crammed into tight spaces where the few in front have room to move and do interesting things while those in the middle are left to stand and wait. Give the PBP format, that can equal a long time (maybe weeks) doing nothing but waiting or watching the rear.

I think our current split inside the abbey is actually good, however. It's keeping our enemies split and unfocused, having to deal with us coming from multiple directions.

That, and the build of the two split groups is pretty fair, as far as combined magic and brawn are concerned.
