Re: (057) Dawn Patrol

Dorgan will spin around and note the current location of the Tar Fiend. Assuming there's a clear line of movement, Dorgan will charge the beast, put his shoulder behind his shield, and attempt a bull-rush in hopes of helping push the Fiend off the wall!

| Not sure if I'm the big D or the little d on the mudmap but if Dorgan is clear, he'll charge. If he can push by Desmond without pushing him off the wall, and still charge, he'll do that. |

| Desmond/Mondes is the (now) notably missing "m" on the mudmap, so... neither the "D" nor the "d" identifier. I believe one is Dieter and one is you (Dorgan), but I'm not sure which is which. ;) |

Wen is very intently looking at the characteristics and compositions of the Eye Beams... "Perhasps...." The thought is left hanging.

Re: (057) Dawn Patrol

Since Dieter has a straight shot and hasn't done anything too foolish lately, he'll charge the fiend.

I still have my shield, right? So I'll start toward it, then use the power of the ring to leap straight into it, shield first, and knock it off the wall. (I hope).

What's the old saying, 'no guts, no gory'?

Re: (057) Dawn Patrol

Wen will let Armando steady the rope and help those descending. He would step back and fish out his scroll case, removing the Gazeback scroll and proceed to read it.

Once the magic has been released he will proceed to making himself the obvious target by whatever means needed.

ooc: That might depend on what is going on, but I can either shoot the tar beast or yell and wave my hands at it or move to engage it. But I assume its a round away so we will wait and see.

Dorgan is right behind Dieter. He'll hit 'em high and I'll hit 'em low.

Re: (057) Dawn Patrol

Ulric seeks the shelter of the trees while Armando assists Wen in hastily descending to the orchard before the young Elf digs a dusty old scroll from his pack and begins to utter the unknowable verse therein...

Meanwhile Highbough clambers down his tree muttering something about drawing it away from the portal as Beringar also clambers down another rope. Olaf, already in the orchard, now hastens back to the wall to free Dieter's loyal silk rope and grapple with a sharp yank, and gathers its coils to him...

On top the wall, Josiane looks up in horror as--in perfectly crystal slow motion--Dieter and Dorgan skid to a halt, Dorgan gives her a fearless wink, then the pair turn about in unison and charge directly at the LOOMING FIEND of smoldering tar and burning veins of lava! The cloud of ash and embers flying about it are almost beautiful for one still, silent moment that is etched in her memory, before the colossal din and heat and pace of action verily slaps her out of it.

| Initiative is diced: Dorgan & Dieter 1d6=5, Tar Fiend 1d6=2 |

The smoke around it glows increasingly red as the monster's baleful eye gathers its voltage for another ignition, but not quickly enough! OGRE SLAYER and THE ROCK hit it together as it too crashes into them, its arms wide and low. Half the battlement seems to be collapsing into the orchard at the impact of the impossible wrestling match!

| Now the overbearing match of the century...

Dieter and Dorgan are 4+1 and 4+3 HD, respectively, so between them they will have 8+4 dice.
The Tar Fiend is 12 HD, so it would have 12 dice. Due to its superior size I would double this, but due to the unstable footing (for it) I will halve it. So it gets 12 dice.

Dieter+Dorgan throw 8d6=6,5,3,2,1,5,6,4+4=36.
The Tar Fiend throws 12d6=1,1,1,1,1 (Lejit! Five 1s in a row!) 4,4,4,1,4,4,6=32.

Yep, when you throw 12d6 and only get 1s and 4s, the dice are talking. |

The colossus overreaches in its lunge and drives its leading leg right through the wall to knee depth, throwing itself wildly off balance. Dieter and Dorgan capitalise, grabbing its huge swiping arm, and then its torso, and twist it with all their might, causing the massive body to follow in the arc of the swinging arm, and so tumble out over the orchard amid a fantastic shower of dust and rubble.

It falls!!

And crashes into the orchard amid an avalanche of rock and dust and an Earth-shattering crash that shakes every rock, tree, and bone, and sends those below sprawling to escape being crushed.

| Alas, Olaf and Torben are right below the fall site, so they will need to save versus breath weapon or suffer two dice damage.
Olaf 1d20=9 (needs 12+)
Torben 1d20=13 (needs 15+)
Both fail to save so sustain 2d6=7 hit points damage.
Both are sorely hurt, but survive.

The Tar Fiend also suffers 2d6=7 hit points damage in the fall. |

Just as the tsunami of dust engulfs him, Wen completes his enchantment; the scroll sublimes into a vapour that--for half a moment--smells vividly like hyena breath, then his sight goes thunk and his eyes go bright mercury.

There seems to be a moment's pause.

Then, something dark and massive stirs amid the rubble...

What next?

Re: (057) Dawn Patrol

Dorgan will clamber to his feet and make sure he still possesses his shield and Mads Cold Iron Axe.

Assuming he has any time left to do anything else, Dorgan will press the attack on the Tar Fiend, unless Wen's strategy becomes apparent, in which case he'll try to stay out of sight of the Fiend.

| That might have been the most epic round of combat in Dorgan's life! Being around Dieter inspires him to greater feats of idioc-, I mean, valor! |

Re: (057) Dawn Patrol

ooc: Once Wen draws near it should not matter the Gazeback has a 3' area of effect.

Wen watches Dieter and Dorgan topple the beast and knows this is his chance. He would draw close enough meet the beast gaze, shield and sword ready.

"Here foul beast, you wish to destroy us, destroy me!" Wen would shout in challenge, moving into its line of sight and threatening it with his, divinely enchanted, sword.

ooc: If Wen needs to strike the beast to get it to gaze at him so be it, but he'd prefer to stand just out of reach and defend.
