Yes; I will update it to say: "Snaps between Wen and Ulric's positions"

Re: Out Of Character

I'm in need of one more able PBP-player to join my DD V3 play test (right here on these boards).

I have 7 PCs champing at the bit and ready to go, but we need an 8th to complete the party and get under way. There are two other players who have indicated their interest, but neither are available immediately, so they'll join as and when they're available.

I expect the game to run for approximately a month... any takers?

Re: Out Of Character

Back on topic:

Hmm, methinks it might pay to go back and reread Olaf's last encounter with the monster from the pit. The experience would, after all, be kinda burned into his memory.

It's also worthwhile restating that magical-types can't cast spells while engaged in melee.

I.e., Josiane won't be able to cast her spell while toe to toe with a werewolf; she won't be able to cast until the next turn in which she begins unengaged. So her best course of action is to somehow disengage.

It will also pay to consider Josiane's spells; the Righteous Evangelist (aka Magic Weapon) will make one or two weapons +1. The Benediction of Thuul (aka Bless) will promote all unengaged allies within a 60ft circle to +1...

I think that is what we are trying to do.. Have Josiane disengage and Wen engage in hopes that the other has turned on Desmond/Mondes. I think the Righteous Evengelist is an attempt to allow Josiane and Wen to actually damage the Werewolf. At least that was my take on the posts.

Re: Out Of Character

Yes, I think Wen has the right idea, but he (and others too) could do better than attack with an ineffectual weapon.

Players without silver weapons could still overbear the werewolves, attempting to restrain them from attacking. Anyone could attempt to barge a werewolf off the wall. I.e., there are "creative" options beyond "attack to kill" that could be exploited.

Just sayin' ;)

Re: Out Of Character

Also, if I pointed out that I'll be dicing to determine who will be targeted by the tar monster next turn--and that Ulric and Wen had already attracted attention to themselves--would anyone's action be any different?

I thought about that and then thought about you making a dex check, me failing, missing the werewolf and falling to my death... Just saying.

It's hard sometime to take the risk against an already poor position. The defensive stance vs the werewolf seems like the best chance of livving for another minute. As DM you know the rules you are going to apply, as player we are only guessing... Yes, I'd love to shield rush the thing off the roof. Not sure if I could.

Re: Out Of Character

It's true that I have an unfair advantage of "knowing the odds".

Sorry to "nag" you, I guess I'm just concerned that this could go south very quickly from here if the PCs can't "make something happen". I don't want to see a serious wipe out any more than you guys do.

Josiane being unable to "imbue" your weapons is a decisive tactical problem. Her continuing to fight defensively won't solve that problem; she needs to get out of contact in order to have better options.

Re: Out Of Character

No worries I don't see it as a nag, I see as Dm hint. :) We have not approached this very well tactically. The Tar Pit beast is really beyond us it feels, I don;t think anyone expected that wrinkle so fast. I blew it on the silver weapon thing, I was side tracked on the whole forest spirits + the dual classing and just plain blew it on the equipment that would help. I will probably now pay the price.

But I'll amend my post with what "I" was really thinking and let "YOU" decide if Wen can do it. ;)

Amended tag is in RED, and pie in the sky was struck out.
