Re: (053) Moonshine

Wen greets the day with a smile and then feel his empty stomach and gives a puzzled sigh. "I suppose we better do something about the food". He has a seat and thumbs through his tome of spells seemingly lost in thought.

Re: (053) Moonshine

After sometime Wen would put his spellbook away - memorized The Infinitesimal Summons x2 for the day.

"Let us be off, I have it in mind to use a little magic on the road that might turn up something to eat,,, But I think it best to use judiciously."

During the days walk Wen continuously takes a look at the surrounding landscape. At the first signs of a area that is likely to support food producing plants he would stop and cast his first spell... Sending is desire to take flight and help them find food....

| Two "gamey" things to remember...

It's a Hinterlands house rule that spell casters can only memorise a single instance of any spell. But that aside, each player technically only gets to do one thing per "turn". During wilderness exploration a "turn" is a day in duration. So Wen only "needs" one instance of The Infinitesimal Summons to try his plan today in any case. |

Re: (053) Moonshine

ooc: My bad I forgot that limitation. So noted..

Wen would look across the endless sea of grasses and frown. "Unlikely to find much in the way of non meat, anyone know what type of game I should try to locate?"

As the party walks Wen would send the sparrows out looking for wild hares, pheasants, pigs that sort of thing.

Dorgan scratches his beard. "I got no idea, Wen. Something slow and easily caught?"

The dwarf will keep his head down and march on.

Re: (053) Moonshine

Wen sings his sorcerous song, his lilting Elvish voice boarding on enchanting in itself to those nearby... and lo! 3d6=2,2,1 A flight of six tiny Savannah sparrows come babbling to him, alighting upon his outstretched arms momentarily, circling and chirping joyously, and making themselves know.

Envongr's owl half opens an eye and rotates its head a three quarter turn to observe the source of all the bustle... but only watches as Wen sing-songs his magic to the little birds and they flutter off.

This done, the company trudge hungrily on toward the the ruined keep on the bluff. Their stomachs are a pained emptiness; their limbs are weary; their heads hand low upon stooped shoulders as they forced themselves ever onward...

Dice for Wen's helpers; d6=1 :(
Dice for daily encounter; d6=5

...the day passes most wearily. Before noon it is apparent to all that the smokey haze has returned to the skies over Ket, and that it is the pall of multiple fires.

But ahead of that, the ruined keep draws ever nearer, the bluff rising from the surrounds so that the (seemingly) abandoned ruin stands prominent in the northerly landscape. You will reach it before dusk, even in your sorry, footsore state and with the blinded hobbits.

During the day Wen has several sparrow messengers reach him, but none has any news he considers worth pursuing. As evening approaches, the company have finally reached the base of the bluff. The ruin stands above them, and still appears devoid of activity as it has all day.

| Everyone is now reduced to half strength due to starvation. |

What are your orders for the evening?

Re: (053) Moonshine

ooc: So we should make Ket tomorrow so other then starving tonight there is not much else do right?

Wen is appologictic to the others. "I overestimated the terrain I guess. Well one good point is the lack of pry means the lack of hunters as well."

Wen would take his turn on watch and sleep and study as normal. In the morning he would swap back to The Mellifluent Concord, Ket sounds like the sort of place he'll need that.

Dorgan doesn't even have the strength to lift his hand to rub his beard.

"Whatta ya all think? Worth it to check out the keep? Or camp down here and hope no one notices us?"

Re: (053) Moonshine

The skyline beyond the ruined keep is much denser with smoke from this distance... it's clear there have been a troubling quantity of fires burning all day in the lands beyond the ruin -- in the direction of Ket.

Re: (053) Moonshine

Immediate options appear to be:

Push on in a final night march to reach Ket.
Establish an evening hunt.
Camp where you are at the base of the knoll.
Hike 20 minutes up the knoll and camp up at the ruin.
Something else?
