OOC: Working on the map update. I forgot to ask: Are you continuing to explore the Grand Chasm region (Areas 1-6 and 15) in the dark per Ursa's instructions, or are you going back to using a light source?

Dougal votes for continuing to explore the Grand Chasm region.

OOC: To clarify, the party must pass through the Grand Chasm area, one way or the other, even if it's just on the way to the Tahini Beetle lair. My question is: Lights on or lights off? It affects the artwork style of my map. ;)

Kiplyn votes for light on.. "That was Ursa's thing and look how that turned out. I prefer a little light down in those caves."

"I know I'm new here," Wilbur says, "but I'd feel better with some light."

"But -- but -- don't you see? See how much you can SEE with the light out? The darkness reveals itself..."

This is muttered by Willie in some consternation. He will vote to keep the lights out until they've passed the secret door to area 4, but won't press it if out-voted.

Dougal's nature draws him to respond in favor of the dark.

"I'm with Willie. There is much value in seeing farther, even if it might not have quite the distinct detail. But if the rest of you wants lights, then... that way is fine as well. Let's make sure everyone is stocked up on oil and carries a lantern, then! We've had enough incidences where one or more lights have gone out. We need everyone to be able to make their own if necessary."
I preferred no lights, but party vote seems to be 3 for lights and 2 for dark, so... light it is. But definitely, everyone make sure you have a lantern and oil.

Sorry guys. I had a computer crash last week and, rather than deal with it, I just went outside and enjoyed the nice spring weather!

Every few years I think, "Maybe I should give Ubuntu another shot... maybe it is better than I remember." And yet again, the pattern repeats... nope!

I'm back up and running now (in the loving arms of Fedora 34 Beta), though it might take me another day or two to get my backups restored and start making maps again.

But I am just about to post a map-less update for y'all. Text-only, like the good old days of Zork. Stay tuned...
