...and by great fortune he has always buckled his pack and armour in such a way that he can get free in a hurry. That luck (or wisdom) pays dividends now, as he wriggles free and surges upward, while his pack and armour vanish into the cold black depths.
Near a minute passes with Mot probing the water, and Dram and Javas standing by with their ropes, before Gaspard bursts out of the water to inhale a mighty draft of air!
