"Careful, this is not right! Dame Simonetta those things are pointing right at you. Everyone get clear." Kiplyn would retreat for now.

At Kiplyn's cautionary words, Noh stops moving forward. "What do you think Carc? Notice anything dangerous up there?" He asks his friend quietly.

“Move back,” Noh says quietly.

Dougal waits for Dame Simonetta to get clear of the... pointed ceiling hanging creatures... then says, "When we're all clear of the ceiling, let's send some stones up there..."

Dougal readies his sling and a stone.

"Tricky!" mutters Willie. He readies his sling to loose along with Dougal and hopefully the rest of the team.

"Let's get -- that one!" he suggests, pointing, hoping to concentrate fire on the nearest stalacritter.

If the critters start dropping & moving toward the party, he drops his sling & readies melee weaponry.

Willie plinks one of the stalacritters with his sling (1d20=16, hit for 5hp) knocking it down from the ceiling. The living stalactite twitches for a few seconds then slumps lifelessly to the floor. The other eleven try to position themselves where they can drop down onto Willie's head, sliding like snails across the cave ceiling, but they are very slow moving (1" movement rate) and Willie evades them by simply taking a step back.

If you are smart about it and keep a safe distance, you should be able to defeat the piercers with a few volleys of sling stones, at no risk to yourselves. I would play out the combat to its inevitable conclusion, however many rounds it takes. Does anyone not agree with this plan, to kill all of the piercers from a safe distance with sling stones?

Robur cursed about not having strong enough magic to do much, pulls out his sling and fires at a stalactite.

Agreeing with the plan. I’m guessing not a lot of treasure here. :)

"Wait, wait!" says Willie, and beckons everybody out of range of the piercers (presumably they will stop following if we retreat far enough).

"We know now that these guys are here, and they are easy to avoid if you know about them. What say we leave them there? Then if we have to retreat in a hurry from Level 3, we can run through this room and hopefully these stalacritters take out a few pursuers! What do you think?"

Willie's just excited to have come up with A Plan, but he's not strongly tied to it -- if there isn't general support, he'll easily go along with slinging the piercers to death.
