OOC: If you use the tunnel as a funnel, then that funnel is a two-edged sword: it forces the beetles to come at you 1 at a time, but you can only fight back 2 at a time. The other 10 hobbets would presumably be standing by to rotate in the fight if Wilbur or Dame Simonetta get wounded? (We know the combat would go at least 6 rounds, since there are 6 beetles, coming at you 1 by 1.)

High-arcing 'lawn dart' attacks from the 2nd rank are not possible in low-ceilinged areas. Hypothetically, if I ruled Noh can safely throw javelins over Wilbur the Tall's head, then to be fair, I'd also have to rule the beetles can make similar trick shots with their sesame loogies. Hilarious as that would be, I don't want to go down that road, so: If anybody wants to make missile attacks, your best shot is an opening volley, right here, right now.

Okay opening sling volley for Robur, and then he will wait if he needs to get in there to help the front line.

OOC: How about this, let's put it to a vote.

Vote ATTACK to spend the 1st round of combat fighting the beetles 12-on-6 in the open. Vote RETREAT to spend the 1st round of combat maneuvering into the tunnel, potentially setting up a 2-on-1 tight quarters battle on round 2 (if the beetles choose to pursue).

By my action I'm voting option 2, but don't let that stop anyone from doing what they want. I will try to get in shadows and I will try to backstab at the first opportunity, I'm a thief not a fighter :).

Wait, we've got 12 hobbets? In that case we outnumber them 2:1 in both cases. I don't recall the specifics of the previous battle (I have a horrible memory) but I would assume the beetles can still use their tahini in melee? In that case, the only advantage to retreating would be to prevent the beetles from targetting any of our weaker (low HP) party members. That's a rather small advantage, for which we have to give up a round of combat at the start, plus possible further losses of attacks if we need to switch-out front-liners. Based on this, I will change my vote to ATTACK.

I only count 10 on the character list, one is a bird and two(?) are inactive? I don't think Noh was in the last tahini melee so I'm fine with attacking!
Unless we are lible to be overrun, then "run away!!!!" My vote is: attack.

 I'll still vote for the retreat plan as Robur could be killed by one hit.

Dougal feels the draw of his new sword and almost can't control himself. He draws it and steps up beside the Dame and Wilbur, ready to attack the beetles.

OOC: Sorry folks, the covid wiped me out for a few days. I'm on the mend! Update in a day or two.
