Kiplyn is still uncertain although he see Dougal moving, oddly, around. If he can lower himself enough to touch his foot to webbing and ensure it is not "Sticky" he would. If it seems safe after that he would join Dougal

Dame Simonetta is somewhat concerned when Dougal's weight leaves the rope, but she remains in position in case he needs to grab on again in the near future!

Does this make sense: Kiplyn judges that Dougal is simultaneously acting weird but also not wrong. Like both of those things can be true?

From a game-mechanics perspective, Kiplyn would have to grudgingly agree with Dougal: The web is very strong, and if Kip is careful where he steps, he can avoid the sticky strands. The difficulty level is comparable to walking a gymnastics balance beam, which is to say, 100% chance of success for a Burglar (unless hurried or attacked).

However, the flip side of it, is that Kiplyn doesn't understand why Dougal is being so Zen in the face of danger. Kiplyn is confident of his own skills, but the consequences of a misstep are so dire (it's a loooooong way down) it strikes Kiplyn as perverse that Dougal seems to be enjoying himself.

Talk me through Kiplyn's next steps. Does he follow Dougal? Does he change his mind, and keep hold of the rope? Does he investigate the cocooned husks of the Spider-Goat's former meals?

Beppo kept staring down into the abyss, imagining all kinds of monsters lurking in the dark down there.

Dougal does explore a bit to the west after calling up, "It's OK. Give me a minute to see what's down here. I won't go far!"

He tries to imagine how that might look as an epitaph on his tombstone...

bilfur examines the web and thinks that if someone enters a spider goat web would the vibration of movement attract any other spider goats? Bilfur has his sling out ready in case there is more.

( lol shall we drop a torch and see what happens, " How about a little fire Scarecrow?/ JK"

And with that... Dougal is gone! He disappears into the shadows, heading west. With every step he takes, the web twangs and vibrates. It looks like a wild ride, but Dougal feels totally in control.

In an earlier Adventure, we established that this area is teeming with bioluminescent creatures. Dougal is so engrossed in the thrill of webwalking that he doesn't notice the transition from lantern light to natural cavern-glow. His eyes adapt quickly to the dim conditions, and before he knows it, he's wandered farther from the group than he realizes.

Dougal passes by several discarded husks. It looks like the Spider-Goat consumed its webbed prey in situ as opposed to moving the victims to a central larder. Most of the husks are the size of small animals like rats, but Dougal passes by 6 larger cocoons that he thinks could potentially contain hobbet-sized remains.

Along the westernmost edge of the Grand Chasm, Dougal can faintly see a dark alcove or cave. It's at eye level for him, meaning 50' below the ledge. Could this be the Lair of the Spider-Goat?

(The alcove is x, Dougal is the D, Kiplyn is the little k, and the other party members up on the ledge are O.)

Kiplyn watches Dougal wander out of sight.... "I guess I better follow him" he lets us other know. And with that he slowly makes his way into the darkness n the direction that Dougal went....

bilfur says, " good luck. " . Then Bilfur asks, "if our buddies see more of those creatures that they can't handle, and they decide to run back to us, should we have a torch ready to burn the web just in case?"
