Dougal looks through the bone debris for anything of value.

The bones are a mixed-up jumble of animal remains: some are just scattered around loose, while others form complete skeletons. They range in size from tiny rat bones to medium-sized bones resembling a dog or fox-like creature. None of the bones look like they come from Hobbets, or any other humanoid creature.

Suddenly, the bones begin to stir! Several of the more complete canine-shaped skeletons rise up from the pile and adopt a threatening, predatory posture. Our heroes have awakened 9 cave fennec skeletons!

OOC: Since the party was being cautious, there is no danger of surprise, and you are at the entrance of the room near the NE corridor, as opposed to being surrounded in the middle of the room. What do you do?

"See piles of bones are never a good thing" Kiplyn has his trusty dagger at the ready.

"Keep our backs to the exit! Don't get surrounded!" shouts Willie.

He takes his position, just inside the exit passage, and raises Chegs' Warhammer for skeleton-bashing!

If the party begins to be overwhelmed, he will attempt a fighting retreat back toward area 26.

Dame Simonetta stands beside Willie, ready to face the oncoming creatures.

Wilbur readies his sword and joins the line. He's not sure if it's the right weapon for fighting skeletons, but it's what he has.

He is very conscious of the crowbar in his backpack, though, just in case.

Seeing the skeletons form, and knowing his sword has not worked well in the past, Dougal sheaths his short sword and retrieves his crowbar from his pack. Smashing bones with brute force is definitely better than chipping away at them with a sword edge...

Fennec Skeleton Battle Round 1

The cave fennec skeletons swarm our Heroes with alarming speed!

One of them sinks its teeth into Willie's calf, causing a minor injury.

Another leaps up and savages Wilbur in the side of the face, tearing his flesh down to the cheekbone!

Wilbur and Willie are flustered and fail to mount an effective counter-attack.

Kiplyn is right there to help, and with lightning reflexes, stabs his friends' attackers clean through their skulls, one-two, snicker-snack, reducing them to piles of bones.

Dame Simonetta decapitates one of the fennec skeletons with a mighty swing of her sword!

Dougal improvises with his crowbar and pulverizes one of the skeletons.

At the end of the round, 4 skeletons are destroyed, and 5 fight on with unwavering morale!

OOC: I'll allow 'crowbar as improvised club' because I love the Bruce Campbell-y mental image!
Skellies win initiative 6-2

Their attack rolls: 10, 11, 20, 11, 5, 15, 12, 11, 11
Willie is hit for 2hp dropping him to 4/10
Wilbur is hit for 6hp! dropping him to 6/12

Dame Simonetta: 5 miss, 12 hit for 6hp KILL
Dougal: 10 miss, 19 hit for 3hp KILL
Kiplyn: 13 hit for 3hp KILL, 15 hit for 4hp KILL
Wilbur: 8 miss, 6 miss
Willie: 4 miss (we've got to level you up so you get that second attack!)

Kiplyn seems a little surprised at the first exchange and mumbles to himself "Don't get killed, don't get killed"

Wilbur drops his sword and pulls out his crowbar. If he can still attack, he will; otherwise, he'll fight defensively.
