"Rats!" Dame Simonetta whispers harshly."I'm not sure which direction they are, maybe the have a nest behind those narrow cracks. Have any of you been here before?"

"Never turn your back on rat, as my gramps always said. We better move south first and quietly" Kiplyn would say softly and motion for everyone to spread out be and be ready.

Willie takes a look around. Even though it was just a little while ago, his first venture down here seems like a distant memory!

"I think we're probably safe from the west, at least for a bit. Yes, let's go south! But watch out -- rats aren't friendly!"

Then he starts & looks behind him, maybe checking to see whether Ursa or Frederick is lurking in the darkness, checking up on the party.

"That's not a spoiler, just something I heard once!" he clarifies, quickly.

Willie readies Chegs' old war-hammer in his right hand, and in his left his own wooden shield -- in his mind, the best equipment for rat-squishing.

On the east wall of the tunnel, there are a few narrow cracks (Hobbets would have to crawl through) and one wider crack (Hobbets could walk upright, single file). There are faint rat noises from these cracks.

To the south there is a three-way intersection. There are still some faint scorch marks on the floor from the First Adventure. The rat sounds are loudest from the southwest fork.

Dame Simonetta doesn't like the feeling of those cracks being behind her back. She moves to the nearest one and shines her lantern inside, looking for the flashing glow of rat-eyes.

Dougal examines the smaller cracks to see if they might be collapsed or somehow blocked up, preventing them from flanked.

While D Simonetta & Dougal are examining the smaller cracks, Willie advances to the large SW crack with his shield held carefully in front of him, just to see if he can see anything down there.

Kiplyn has his dagger and shield at the ready and is behind Dougal for support.
