There is definitely a strong enchantment coming from the pile. It is coming from the axe

You see a well-crafted battle-axe with the flowing lines typical of elven smith-work. On the haft, carved in elvish script, is the word DRAMBORLEG

Wiglaff catches sight of the axe over Grampus's shoulder.
