@Bastet1002, any questions about the house rules (in the 1st post of this thread)? I rolled up some stats for you. Here's the way it works: I have rolled 6 potential characters, using the '3d6 in order' method. Choose your favorite from these 6 possible characters:

S:13 I:13 W:4 Co:12 D:11 Ch:8 Gold:180
S:13 I:8 W:5 Co:12 D:10 Ch:8 Gold:100
S:17 I:11 W:9 Co:15 D:14 Ch:17 Gold:50
S:10 I:16 W:10 Co:9 D:11 Ch:15 Gold:80
S:14 I:12 W:8 Co:8 D:17 Ch:14 Gold:70
S:13 I:10 W:13 Co:12 D:14 Ch:13 Gold:80

(I will roll hit points once you choose your class.)

Post your 1st draft of your character here in this thread for discussion. Welcome aboard!

Thank you. I'll make an adventuring Druid with the bottom list of stats for a well-rounded character. Before I post my first draft, I had a couple of rules questions. I saw your Hobbit Druid class rules, but where can I find a description of the spells? Slocum's DD Druid or another source? Also, is a cudgel for a hobbit basically like a walking stick for a hobbit? And, the current house rule for hobbits and slings is +3 on missile attacks (and no multiple attacks from DDv5), right?

um that S:17 I:11 W:9 Co:15 D:14 Ch:17 Gold:50 is eye popping (just not for a druid) ;-0

How right you are. I better take those stats then! I must be getting rusty without having had my two-sees and three-sees today ... By the way, how does armor modify AC? Can find rules for that...

@bastet1002, another Druid sounds great!

Here's some info on the Druid class: https://forum.immersiveink.com/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=829

You got me on the spell descriptions!

What I've been doing: If the spell exists as a Delving Deeper MU or Cleric spell, then I use that description.

If the spell doesn't pre-exist in DD, then I look at a variety of sources (like the Greyhawk Supplement and Eldritch Wizardry) and make my best judgment.

The source I find myself referring to the most, is the 1st edition AD&D Player's Handbook. To me, that is the definitive source that I grew up with, for Druid spells.

Fair enough?

Regarding slings, you walking the door just as we are tinkering with the combat system a bit. Yes, I think we are back to just giving Hobbets a flat +3 to hit with missile weapons. (For a while, I experimented with giving Hobbets a 3:2 rate-of-fire with slings, but that was clunky in my opinion.)

We're using classic descending AC (leather = 7, chain = 5, plate = 3, shield improves by 1).

The only house rule worth mentioning in that department, is that players requested a parrying dagger or main gauche. I ruled that it's simply a dagger-shaped shield (if that makes any sense).

Ok guys! I went for gold and tried to make the first (I think), Fighter / Druid / Thief Hobbit!
The first draft of Robur Boulderhill.

Robur is an only child of a mead maker in Shire
Fleetfoot. Rivalry with local mead maker, Belisarius
Maggot, led him to accompany his father on adventures
for ingredients. He is now looking for new mead
ingredients (without his father’s permission) to put
the Maggot’s out of business for good!

Note: There are a couple of things missing such as a few weights of things, and movement rate, and his age. But it is mostly done (subject to our Judge's approval and revisions of course!)

Sorry, this link to the PDF character will direct you to a new page rather than simply opening a new window:

Hi Tim, the link to your character sheet worked okay for me. I'll give it a read, and let you know my comments. It will be fun to have our first triple-class fighter/thief/druid!

I have a slightly unusual idea how to work Robur into the story, a little different from how I've handled new players in the past. I'll PM you with my idea.

Matty, thanks for the idea you messaged me and character feedback. I revised the character with a much more basic background that won't be a spoiler for anyone to read, and the other suggestions you made. I messaged 1 very minor tweak to you. Here is the revised link of the character - draft 2 (probably final).
