What does that mean?? :?

I think he means if we can delay the dragon's return to its lair, it gives Lemmi a better chance of looting its hoard... and escaping alive.

If the door hinges are accessible, Boggs will use some of his oil to lubricate them. "Come on boys, help open this door," he instructs his Boggsmen.

The Boat Room
There are three exits from the boat room. One that leads back in the direction of the dungeon entry. One that leads "onward" back the way you have just fled from. The third is indeed on your left as you fled back here, however it leads more-or-less directly away from the dragon's lair.

There was a door at the end of a passageway, just outside the boatroom, which you never tried. Knowing what you now know, it would seem to head back toward the lair...

The Dragon Lair

Lemmi listens for any sound of approaching trouble for a moment then, hearing nothing, springs across the 20ft of open space to clamber onto the treasure pile; a roughly circular mound of coins with a central depression, a nest as it were, large enough for a pony.

The stink of the dragon is so fulsome that Lemmi's eyes sting with it, but this doesn't stop them fixing on a flashy piece of jewelry; a long silver neck-chain decorated with gemstones and leaf-shaped foils. Her watering eyes boggle as she grasps it and draws it forth... even as her ears are warning her dimly of something entering the chamber, above her. Something seething and hissing angrily in the dimness...

Lemmi winces in frustration (and fear?) at the noise from above. She withdraws as rapidly and silently as possible for one of the side exits to the pit; though should it be clear that she has been seen, she will simply sprint.
She will either drop or hold the necklace, depending on which is more stealthy at the current stage of extraction.

This is the door Walfried is trying, assuming the door out of the boatroom leading in that direction has not gotten stuck in the interim.

Dropping the necklace now would certainly make a clatter. Besides which, it is worth a small fortune...

It's not stuck. You've just come into the boat room through the same door, fleeing the dragon. So now you are going to open that last door and head back toward the dragon, but immediately take a sharp left outside the boat room, so that you can try the door that is possibly a short cut back to the beast's lair.

I shall make it so...

That's my intent, correct!

Walfried leads the way from the boat room and, supported by Boggs and two of his men, traverses some 50ft or so of passage way to reach the door which he presumes must lead back to the lair of the beast.

"One -- two -- THREE!" he whispers, indicating the door, so that on THREE he and one of the Boggsmen put their shoulders to it simultaneously, and burst right through it. Alas, they stagger into the dragon's lair at precisely the same time the awful wyrmm returns from its prior pursuit of them. The beast snarls its feral displeasure as it rushes across the room to attack; by the time the pair have recovered themselves, the monster is virtually on them!

Meanwhile, down below, Lemmi hears a thud above as she stuffs the necklace into her vest, then a horrible snarl as she darts off to the nearest dark passageway. Something worrying is happening above, but right in front of her she is confronted with a dark tunnel, and it doesn't smell too good...
Door check 2d6=6,3.

Surprise check. Is the dragon surprised? 1d6=3, so no.
Are the players surprised 1d6=5, so yes! Ooooh dear.

Will the dragon breath or close to combat? 2d6=2, soo it will attempt to bite, but has to close the distance to do so...

What next people?
