[pc Halfling,Fighter]Tumbly[/pc] will also back up and prepare his sling. (are there shadows Tumbly an make use of?)

OOC I will check this thread tonight. Saturday I have some plans that might keep me away from a computer until late in the evening. If you need orders for Tumbly, he is a determined fighter and will fight but if needs be will have no problem beating a retreat if the group determines that is wise.

| Turn 3.14 |
The fighting company array themselves around the back of the ramp, and upon the stairs and balcony level as if to ambush an enemy coming up the ramp, while [pp Man,cloak,dagger,lantern,12,4/4]Sullivus[/pp] breaks out his copious supply of oil flasks, and [p Man,cloak,cat-stick,open hand,12,5/5]Urtzil[/p] shakes his bizarre totem as he croaks a ritual for the dead.

The insidious dragging sound continues from somewhere below and, after a minute or so waiting, the slow clicking commences again and gradually gains in tempo until it has become a rattle once more; and then cycles down to again to eventual silence. After some time holding ambush positions, it seems clear that no great horror of the deep is about to issue up the ramp. Whatever is making the sounds seems content to do so from the comfort of its own own lair, below...

| The referee check for the occurence of unwanted intrusions; 1d6=1, so nothing.

Now taking your orders for turn 3.15... |

Biratlan raises an eyebrow and jerks his chin toward the ramp.

"I like the defensible position we have here. Perhaps we could call upon Mister Potts to serve as bait in another fishing expedition?"

With a resigned sigh and shake of his head, Potts nods and makes his way toward the opening, and after a few moments of hesitation begins his stealthy decent.....

| Here be the beginning of turn 3.15... |

Master [p Halfling, leather, sling, open hand,9,4/4]Potts[/p] sees that if anything is to be done, he'll have to do it himself. So he straightens his coat, squares his Hobbit shoulders, and proceeds down the ramp... carefully!

Well, if it was dim in the chamber of the cultists, it is positively dark a little way down the ramp, and only getting darker ahead!

Meanwhile, the rest of the party wait for Potts to report back, and hear only vague echoes of what might be going on below...

| Potts ONLY: Please post your next turn in The Underbelly thread. Everyone else, please continue to post here in this thread for now.

Let us suppose it takes Potts one move to reach the bottom of the ramp, so we're halfway through turn 3.15 before switching to the encounter timescale. Thus, combat-turns 3.15.1 thru 5 have elapsed at the exploration scale.

So, I'm now accepting orders for turn 3.15.6, which will be a one-minute combat turn, even though combat has technically not broken out yet. |

The mage will twiddle his thumbs and wait... unless Potts comes running out of the hole with something large and dark following him, in which case he'll light an oil flask and toss it at the large dark thing.
