Congratulations! Great news.
I have a wife and 2 kids, and every year of life is special in its own way as you watch them grow. Can't wait for what happens now as they are approaching teenage hood.

Quick question, though, regarding my starting scrolls: am I keeping these as my references for spells I can memorize or am I casting from them? In NPC mode, I think Mads has already used one of them up, leaving me with the Yaw and Lambent--correct?
Welcome back Verhaden...
Hinterlands awaits!
Mads II can memorise spells from his scrolls (without consuming them), or cast directly from them (consuming them in the process).
He still has all of his starting scrolls.
You can tell me in the game thread which spells Mads has memorised right now.
Good luck!

She leads the company to the cemetery gates, though keeping an eye out all the while for anything amiss. If they reach the gates unopposed, she takes a moment to linger there, head bowed, leaning on her sword.
"Friend Wibert. Sir Pelenwin. Pray pardon us that we leave without you. We shall return, and we shall free you from the curse that torments you. By Almighty Thuul I, Josiane the Guided, so swear".
She sings the words of an ancient hymn of passing softly before raising her head and opening her eyes, now red-rimmed and watering.
The spirit of
Wibert thanks thee doctorx for remembering him.
You get a little attached to a character after a year of playing one.
Time to move on... Look out for
Rufus the quick and the fun a halfing can get up to.

What was the verdict on posting a watch tonight? Might not be a bad idea to have a "night watchman" roaming the halls who can sound the alarm if someone/something tries to break in.
If we're all separated in our rooms, any one of us could be cut down without anyone else the wiser.
Dorgan is happy to take a watch but he'd like to get eight hours of sleep in a row and see about leveling up.

A watch for the night is an excellent idea. We can all sleep in to make sure we get our 8 hours.
We should definitely invest some funds in hiring some human guards for the front gate and grounds.

We should hire some carriers for our excursions as well. People to just carry torches, extra shields and supplies. Ideally, they wouldn't have to fight, just tote and carry.
With "the shield shall be broken" (or whatever it's official name is) rule, having an extra shield of two for everybody would *really* come in handy, too. Olaf could have shifted one of those hits that drained him to a shield if he'd had an extra with him. It would also allow low HP PC's to go in the front line for a turn or two, taking a hit on their shield instead of losing their HP. This would give other PC's a chance to step back, rearm, recover, and even maneuver before stepping back into the front line.

Desmond might want to consider hanging Mads Cold Iron Axe on the wall in his room and wielding his old short sword and a shield, then.
Good ideas, though, Eris.

Hells, yes. Extra shields would be great.
(The lack of a shield was definitely throwing Dieter/b) off his aim. No matter that his sword couldn't hurt them; it just felt wrong fighting without a shield.)
